X E If 'N-1. 0I 8lfU6ll Throughout the centuries the artisan, the crafts- man, has been the most respected of men. His was the hand that built the temples and highways of the pastg that harnessed the might of water, steam, petroleum, electricity, that launched the first aircraft, the first rocketg that sounded the nucleus of the atom itself. When probed by the artisan's mind and touched by his hand, the crude elements of nature are transmuted into forms of beauty and utility. The craftsman, the man who best co-ordinates the intel- lect and the hand, has been the builder of civiliza- tion. Wentworth Institute trains craftsmen. Some of the disciplines taught here began their development before the dawn of history. Some are younger than Wentworth itself. All relate to fields wherein the trained and dedicated man can find fulfillment. Within his Held of specialization, every graduate of Wentworth Institute has mastered much of the accumulated knowledge of the past. But the past is only a foundation-the basis upon which the future will be built. And the future will be shaped by the only force capable of tempering the wisdom of the past with the sound judgment and inspiration needed in the present-the intellect of man. The following pages are a record of the develop- ment and the achievements of men who have pre- pared themselves to become part of that force which will forge the future.
