We are proud to welcome you into the Wentworth family. Your association with the men who have preceded you into the Wentworth family is a rich endowment for the future of our Alma Mater and her Alumni body. The Wentworth Institute Alumni Association is dedicated to furthering the interests of Wentworth Institute and promoting the welfare of her Alumni. It is composed of graduates, former students, fac- ulty members, and individuals who are interested in Wentworth Institute and the men who have studied here. The Alumni Association was first organized in 1913 and incorporated in 1926. In the fall of 1956 the Alumni Office was established on a per- manent basis and staffed with a full-time Alumni Secretary and one assistant. It is the duty of the Alumni Secretary to provide for, promote, and co- ordinate the activities of the Alumni of Wentworth Institute. The Class-because of the intimate association of its members in the classroom, on the athletic field, in activity clubs, during social hours, and through the many other contacts made over the period of two years-is a natural, essential, and con- tinuously effective association within the alumni structure. The Class of 1963 should have, at all times, a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. In addition, each section, such as AET, MEP, or BC, should have one council member for every five to eight men in that section. These officers, together with the council members, comprise the governing body of the class. Every member of the class should make a deter- mined effort to return at regular intervals and re- new his association with his fellow alumni and his Alma Mater. This may be done each year at the annual Reunion Dinner. Your hrst reunion will be be in 1964, your fifth Anniversary Reunion in 1968, tenth in 1973, fifteenth in 1978, twentieth in 1983, twenty-fifth in 1988, etc. Another facet of Alumni activities is Alumni Clubs. These are being organized in various com- munities throughout the country. They will provide an opportunity for social meetings as well as pro- mote fellowship among alumni in a specific geogra- phic area. Do-not hesitate to take advantage of the benefits derived from being active in your local club. To fully enjoy the reciprocal benefits, an alum- nus must be active. An active alumnus is one who not only contributes his time and energy but also, by means of a financial contribution to the Alumni Fund, expresses his loyalty to his fellow alumni and his Alma Mater.
