au i Tau Alpha Pi is an honor society chartered at major technical institutes through- out the nation. This society, founded to give recognition to students of high scholastic attainment, is represented at Wfentworth Institute by the Delta Alpha Chapter. A candidate must attain a 3.50 index or better for two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters and must be of commendable character for acceptance into the society. I Each year the members of the society devote fifteen hours per week to tutoring students in need of academic assistance. The society aided in the operation of the bloodmobile drive which received do- nations of over 150 pints of blood. As in the past, the society conducted an informa- tion center at the annual Open House and numerous pamphlets and catalogues were distributed to visitors. Tau Alpha Pi again conducted the Student Council election of oflicers for the coming year. The society printed and distributed ballots at both the primary and the final elections and supervised the actual balloting and tabulation of votes. Also, at various times during the year, the society invited speakers to give informative lectures to combined groups of technical, cultural, and hobby clubs. The Delta Alpha Chapter of Tau Alpha Pi congratulates the students of the Class of 1965 for the perseverance they have shown in order to complete their formal education and hopes that by continuing their education, both formally and informally, they may realize the fulfillment of their goals. It is composed of all the class section presidents who are elected by their respective classes. The four Student Council officers are a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer who are second-year men elected to ofiice by the student body at the end of their first year. Committees are formed within the Council for the purpose of performing duties and tending to functions for the students, both social and non-social. Among the out- standing committees this year were the Dance Committee, the T.C.H. Clubs Commit- tee, and the Christmas Party Committee. Probably the most memorable accomplishment for the Dance Committee was the Senior Prom, this being the first year in several that it was held outside of school. The prom was held at the Totem Pole with Bob Bacheldor doing the honors. Many thanks go to Paul Bleau and his men for one of the best proms this school has seen. The T.C.H. Clubs Committee is charged with reviewing the allotment of funds to the many different Technical, Cultural, and Hobby Clubs. Brian McKee and his committee did a fine job during the first half of the year, and during the second half of the year, he took over the tiresome job of handling the talent show. Every year at Christmas time, the Student Council sponsors a Christmas Party for underprivileged children. The necessary funds are contributed by the student body. The Christmas Party Committee, under the direction of Raymond Bellefeville, deserves special credit for an outstanding and successful party this year. Joe Bellino, noted foot- ball star, was a surprise guest at the party. Other accomplishments by the Student Council this year included many ufirstsf' Among these was the splitting up of the meetings on Tuesdays. Committee meetings were held for the first 15 minutes of the period, and on the following Thursday the committees reported to the council on their progress. This system enabled the com- mittees to have a regular meeting time and also kept the council well informed as to the effectiveness of each committee. A Parliamentarian was appointed to office for the first time. Thomas Field soon found himself well versed in Robert's Rules of Order and did a fine job of keeping order during the meetings. He proved that a Parliamentarian is a vital part of Went- worth's Student Council. Probably the achievement most beneficial to the entire student body, faculty, and administration was the establishing of Wentworth's Inter-mural Communication Sys- tem. This is the only, system of its kind in the area and the Student Council deserves the credit for setting it up on a trial basis which proved to be an amazing success. It is now an integral part of the school. t Thanks to the hard working council members, the guidance of Mr. Avtgis and Mr. Powers, and the cooperation of the student body, this was one of the Student Council's most successful years at Wentworth Institute. f7Ae Student

f7Ae la.. Sta!! The yearbook is a portrait of the graduating students. Since this book rep- resents all the graduating students, it belongs to each individual student. It is a symbol of achievement and development. It is composed of many different items: original layouts, photographs, quips, and articles. The theme of this yearbook and each yearbook is always-the student. With this objective in mind, the TEKTON staff set out to gather a wide variety of facts, pictures, and articles concerning every aspect of the student's life at Wentworth. A perfect yearbook would include a complete summary of each student's ex- periences individually. This, of course, is impossible and beyond the scope of this book, but we believe a satisfactory compromise has been reached. Each student, knowingly or not, has participated in the TEKTON. The staff has consulted students for their opinions and suggestions which have contributed to the success of this year's book. This year we have made changes in the cover, layout, and the over-all structure of the TEKTON. More pages were added and new topics covered. Every effort has been made to modernize the yearbook in every way possible. The TEKTON would not be what it is if it were not for the competent and willing assistance of our advisors, Mr. Rooney and Mr. Fine, who gave freely of their time to insure the success of TEKTON.
