64154 ,History Early one morning in the Spring of l955, we marched across the Wentworth High School auditorium stage and received a certificate that we were very proud of. We were graduating from g r amm ar school into high school. The moment that we had dreamed of was ours to enjoy. We felt big entering school that fall and working with the high s chool students. We especially enjoyed changing classes. Sitting inthe same room got pretty boring sometimes! Our freshman officers were: President, Philip Carroll, Vice President, Peggy Forrest, Secretary, Faye Patterson, Treasurer, Hilda Dodson. Our ad- visors, Mrs. Exum and Mr. Dallas, guidedus through our first big year. We were allowed to join the different clubs and participate in the various activities. We had two girls on the che ering squad, Betty Kallam and Hilda Dodson. johnny Parrish was on the baseball team. Our second year in high was as promising as the first had been. Our s ophom ore class officers were: President, Hilda Dodson, Vice President, Benson Patterson, Secretary-Treasurer, Betty Kallam, Reporter, Faye Patterson. Our advisors were Miss Edmondson and Mr. Dallas. The Beta Club was enlarged by its eleven new members who were Very proud of this great honor. Larry Paschal was on the boys' basketball team. Faye Rodgers, Peggy Forrest, Anne Husband, Betty Kallam, june Paschalwere onthe girls'basketball team. Tyree Carter, Lloyd Puckett, and Tommy Purgason were on the b as e ba ll team. We had another member, Carol Paschal, on the cheering squad. We were very proud of our girls in the beauty pag e ant. Betty Kallam was first runner-up, and Hilda Dodson was second runner-up. juniors! We were moving up the scale fast now. Our ,uuiior officers were: President, Peggy Forrest, Vice President, Larry Paschal, Secretary, june Paschal, Treasurer, jo Anne Corum, Reporter, Faye Rodgers. Our advisors were Mr. Smith and Mrs. Hankins. This year we ordered our class rings which we are very proud of. We gave the seniors a banquet. The money was obtained by selling magazines. Tyree Carter, Philip Carroll, Benson Patterson, and jerry Turner were on the boys' basketball team. C a r o lyn A n d e rs on was on the girls' team. Carolyn Yeatts, and Laura Harvey were on the cheering squad. We had another good year inthe beauty pageant with Peggy Forrest as first runner-up. The Marshals were Ca rolyn Anderson, Philip Carroll, Hilda Dodson, Peggy Forrest, Benson Patterson and JoAnne Corum. Seniors! The biggest day of all was here. With Mrs. Rankin as our advisor, we elected the class officers. They were: President, Lloyd Puckett, Vice President, Tyree Carter, Recording Secretary, Kaye Farris, Cor- responding Secretary, Betty Lemons, Treasurer, Geneva M a b e, Re porter, Laura Harvey, Parliamentarian, johnny Parrish, Chaplain, Carolyn jones. Co-captains of the boys' basketball team were Lloyd Pu ckett and Benson Patterson, Qffhg girls' basketball team, Faye Rodgers and Anne Husband. These four years have passed by quickly. S oon we will once ag aiii walk across the st a g e and receive another certificate thus becoming graduates of Wentworth High S chool. We will then go our separate ways. We feel that we are prepared to meet the challenge that lies before us. We are grateful to W entw orth for helping us through the most difficult and the most wonderful years of our life. Page IS GLM MOP AEC? On a cool morning in 1969 while walking down the street I was startled and surprisedto see FAY RODGERS, one of my old classmates. I found that she was keeping up with the group the same as she did in high school. I immediately invited her to my home for supper and a nice long chat. She told me that CAROLYN ANDERSON is now manager of Macy's in New York City. GENEVA MABE and JOANNE CORUM are secretaries at Radio City, New York. It is believed that MARGARET FAGGE and MARIE VERNON have married millionaires. It has not been verified which one. WILLIAM RICE is furnishing good clean entertainment for the kiddies on the Hoody Doody Show. JERRY MOOREIFIELD is top x-ray technician at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reids- ville. JUNE PASCHAL now produces a m outhw ash th at makes men irresistible to women. The secret is it smells like money. BILLY KING is now a consistent winner of the Nasc ar Races in the South. EDNA KELLY and her two children are staying with her mother and father while her husband is over seas. GEORGE I-IEFFINGER is chief surveyor for Mr. Combs and also has a degree in engineering. JACKIE SMOTI-IERS has finished college and is teaching agriculture at Wentworth High School. E. T. HAYNES owns a printing shop in Reidsville. KAYE FARRIS and her lovely little da ug ht e rs have just joined h e r husband James at Fort Ord, California. CAROLYN JONES and her husband Ronnie are now owners ofJ. J. Newberry's in Reidsville. TOMMY PURGASON, MILTON HUNDLEY, and J E R RY TURNER are Highway P a tr o l rn e n. DAWN HEFFINGER and MAXINE PATTERSON are lieutenants in the Wac. BETTY LEMONS, now private secretary forWesley Barham, is very devoted to her boss which is also her husband. PHILIP CARROLL is one of our newly elected congress- men. TYREE CARTER and JOHNNY PARRISH went into the Marines as soon as they finished school. LLOYD PUCKETT went into the Navy. They are making the service a career, and are e arning stripes in a hurry. BENSON PATTERSON is also earning his stripes in the paratroopers. He is now stationed in China. KENNETH VAUGHN has finished college and is now working his way to the top as a chemist. MELVIN WOODS is manager of his own chain of grocery stores, which runs from Reidsville to Miami, Florida. LAURA HARVEY is busy looking after her husband Richard Strader and their two children. P EG GY WALKER has traveled extensively with her husband Alan who is an airline employer with Transworld Airlines. FAYE PATTERSON is now man- ager of a large clothing store in Florida. BETTY KALLAM is doing a fine job of keeping house and looking after Dewey as well as a set of twins. LARRY PASCHAL and his wife HILDA DODSON are living in Florida. Hilda is a secretary and Larry is working for an electrical company. Before we knew it the evening had pa s s e d by. Fay and I decided that we would have a class reunion to learn more of what happened to the Class of '59, I, ANN HUSBAND, have transferred my interest in basketball to that fast growing sport, bowling. Last year I was fortunate enough to win the Carolina Championship for Women. ANN HUSBAND Prophet
