GZJJ jfsfory Back then it seemed very important to us that sweet spring day in 1953 We girls put on our new white dresses the boys their neckties and we marched down the aisle and across the stage receiving certificates of promotion to high school High school how thrilling' The next fall we were freshmen We thought the seniors were the most' We elected class officers They were President Wayne Gunn Vice President James Carroll Secretary Judy Craddock and Treasurer Nancy Thomas Our advisors were Mr Dallas and Mrs Baker Four of our girls Nancy Thomas Betty Grey Arnold Linda Kallam and Judy Craddock were cheerleaders Dale Paschal was first runner up in the annual beauty pageant That year our first we had parties Joined clubs attended basketball games and did all of those high schoolish things We were itl The next Autumn came and we were sophomores We found that it wasn t all play Class officers were President Mary Alice Collms Vice Prestdent Reidy Dabbs Secretary Treasurer Ted Murrell Reporter Shirley Reynolds Those who were on the Varsity were girls Linda Kallam Shirley Reynolds Bemadina Duke and Betty Hudson and boys Hugh Carter Prentiss Scott Donald Heffinger Hurley Quackenbush and Edward Wheeler Hazel Gammon became a cheerleader The year was soon gone before we realized it and school was out' Autumn again back to school and we were Juniors Considering big plans officers were elected Kelly Reporter Shirley Reynolds Our advisors were Mr Gentry and Mr Harrelson Nancy Thomas became chief cheerleader and Betty Gray Arnold made the Varsity Shirley Reynolds was elected Co Captain of the Varsity basketball team and Prentiss Scott was elected most outstanding basketball player of Rockingham County The marshals were Chief Wayne Gunn Hazel Gammon Linda Kallam Mar garet Johnson Nancy Thomas and Betty Gray Arnold We gave the seniors a beautiful banquet which we enjoyed too We called ourselves Rebels and had it inscribed on our class rings Much more happened that year too much to write Seniors' With Mrs Rankin as our advisor class offtcers were President Eddie McCollum Vice Presr dent Hurley Quackenbush Treasurer Prentiss Scott Secretary Yvonne Odell Reporter Hazel Gam mon Corresponding Secretary Linda Kallam Nancy Thomas was elected President of the Student Coun cil Margaret Johnson Student Council Vice President of the district and Dale Paschal became Miss Wentworth High Dale Paschal also became a cheerleader Betty Gray Arnold was Chgsen Edltor of the GOLDEN LEAVES Shirley Reynolds and Linda Kallam were elected Co Captains of the girls basketball team and Donald Heffinger and Hurley Quackenbush were elected Co Captains of the boys basketball team As seniors we have realized what education meant We realized all that has been done for us in the past We know that graduation from Wentworth means that some of us may never meet agam on this earth In the past few years together many things have happened which we will never forget Among us there have been grudges and misunderstandings but there has also been love and forgiveness Words cannot express many of our feelings but to those who have done so much for us we wish to thank We cannot see the future but we realize now that we shall never lose those sweet and beautiful memories of these first years of our lives Mary Alice Collins Class Historian President, Wayne Gunng Vice President, Wayne Manleyg Secretary, Betty Gray Arnoldg Treasurer, John
