611155 History In the year '51 our class had around fifty members. We were very proud to be a part of high school. We were grown by now or at least we thought we were. Our sponsors were Mr. Sharp and Mrs. Thompson. Our officers were: J. D. Murphy, president: Ervin Chilton, vice president: Curtis Soyers, secretary: Wayne Heffinger, Reporter, Thomas Bonds, Treasurer. We had some girls on the cheering squad that year also, they were Barbara Tickle and Frances Sands. We are sophomores now. Our sponsors must have really enjoyed us the year before because they got us again our sophomore year. During this time the Beta Club gained some new members they were: Shelby Barber, Gail Murrell, Jo Anne Carter, Carole Harvey, J. D. Murphy, Betty Jane Yeatts, Wayne McCollum and Alice Forrest. We also gained some members on the basketball team that year. They were: Shirley Cox, Lena Brame, and Azile Belton. Those in there cheering for us were: Jo Anne Carter and Donald Crowder. Our class officers were: Betty Jane Yeatts, presidentg Dillard Wyatt, secretaryg Ervin Chilton, Treasurer: J. D. Murphy, Reporter. The boys who received basketball suits were: Stanford, Dillard Wyatt, and J. D. Murphy. Our junior year, we were very proud of ourselves by now. We would soon be seniors. Mr. Harrelson and Mr. Gentry were our sponsors. We were to .soon to get our class rings which were very pretty. We all had fun planning the junior-senior banquet. Carole Harvey and Frank Hubbard made the basketball team. Judy Adkins was in there cheering for them. Our class officers were: president, J. C. Paschal: vice pres- ident, Frank Hubbardg treasurer, Wayne McCollum, secretary, J. D. Murphy, reporter, Barbara Tickle. The marshals were: J. D. Murphy, Chiefg Shelby Barber, Betty J. Yeatts, JoAnne Bray, and Jo Anne Carter. We are now seniors. Many have come and many have gone. Shelby Barber was elected president of the Student Council. Our class officers were: president, Stanford Corumg vice president, J. C. Paschal: secretary, Dixie Heffingerg Treasurer, Barbara Tickleg Reporter, Alice Forrest. The seniors on the varsity are: Barbara Tickle, Betty J. Yeatts, Judy Adkins, Gail Murrell, JoAnne Carter, Shelby Barber, and Wayne McCollum. We were very proud of our seniors in the beauty pageant. We had a beauty queen and the two runners-up. JoAnne Carter was elected as the queen. Barbara Tickle was the first place winner and Betty J. Yeatts the second place winner. Yes, it has only been a short time since that great day in '51. We have had many hard struggles to get where we are but we have had wonderful teachers for the support they have given us.
