0601 Class mates, a school-bell rang today, That had for months been still, And bore my wandering thoughts away, Sorely against my will, I thought that years had passed away. And all our ways seemed strange, I saw us all, some far-off day. And marvelled at the change. I saw, of course, each dear old place, Which we had closely known, I saw each old familiar face, Yet older, wiser grown, The school-house of our early years Had opened wide its door, And turned us out, though hopes and fears, To enter nevermore, I saw the members of the class, When called to separate, Though many an untrod by-way pass, Led by the hand of Fate, I watched their paths, so wide and far From all the past had been, As guided by some distant star, They fought, and fought to winl Lindsey Ioines Class Poet CLASS FLOWER--Pink Rose CLASS COLORS--Pink and Green CLASS MOTTO--Victory is ours if we strive to succeed, K1 .ini . Mascots PAULA JEAN WILSON--HARRY SHARPE

J eadafz lace Wdalofzq In the Spring of 1950, a class consisting of an even number of boys and girls, 21 each strolled across the stage and received a paper certifying they were then in high school, We were really thrilled to think that the next time we came to school we would be in high school, freshmen of the high school! As we entered high school we were divided into two sections, Mrs. Martin was the boys' sponsor and Mrs, Thompson was the girls' sponsor, Class officers were: Philip Carter and Sara Rumley, Presidents, Jack Lindsey and Nannie Carter, Vice Presidents, Alfred Puckett and Rebecca Glass, Secretariesg and Tommy French and Nancy Durham, Treasurers, As this was our first year in high school, we didn't place any boys or girls on the basketball teams, But Tommy French made the baseball team, Before we knew it, our Freshman year was over, Then we went the second step up the ladder of high school, We were now sophomores, Mr, Sheridan was our sponsor, Our class officers were: Marvin Stone, President, John Thomas, Vice Presidentg Freddie Ross, Secretary, and Jimmy Williamson, Treasurer, During this year two members of our class were invited into the Beta Club, They were Alfred Puckett and Rebecca Glass. Five boys, Philip Carter, John Thomas, Tommy French, Harold Sands and Robert Paschal made the basketball team, Louise Cox made the girls' team, Peggy Hand was a cheerleader. Phi1iP Carter. John Thomas, TOIHFHY French. Robert Paschal, Marvin Stone and Alfred Puckett made the baseball team, Nancy Durham was first runner-up in the Miss Wentworth High beauty pageant. A freshman-sophomore party high- lighted our sophomore year, After we finished our sophomoreyear, we went another step up the ladder to our Junior year, Mr, Harrelson was our sponsor, As we entered into the Junior Class we thought of two main events, the Junior-Senior Banquet and our class rings, We ordered our class rings in September and received them just after Thanksgiving, Boy, were we proud of those, There were never any as pretty as ours ever at Wentworth, We really worked hard with Mr, Harrelson on the banquet in which we were to give the seniors, We wanted the banquet to be one of the best ever given at Wentworth, Kenneth Patterson, Nancy Durham, Irene Dodson, Sylvia Joyner, Nannie Carter came into the Beta Club, During our Junior year the same boys in our class repeated on the boys basketball teams except Philip Carter who was out with a sprained back, Kenneth Patterson and Lindsey Joines also made the team, Jeanie Moorefield, Nannie Carter and Louise Cox made the girls' team, The same boys also repeated on the baseball team with Harold Sands and Freddie Ross also. making the team, After getting over all the excitement of being juniors we finally became Seniors, something we had been looking forward to for twelve years, Mrs, Rankin was our sponsor, We had so many things to look forward to that we didn't know how to begin, The first thing was the basketball teams, with Alfred Puckett and Sylvia Joyner going along with them, We had a class party just after school began, It was a real success and everyone enjoyed it, Also, everyone enjoyed the fine banquet in which the Juniors gave us, John Thomas, Philip Carter, Jack Lindsey, Louise Cox and Rhonda Hubbard were invited into the Beta Club, As this is written we have more or less planned out our senior year, We have elected class officers, superlatives, class night officer, mascots, selected our class motto and colors and ordered caps and gowns, Now we are looking forward to that long awaited climax of our high school career- - graduation, As we leave we would like to express our utmost appreciation to all our teachers along ther way for putting up with us and trying to help us, To these teachers and Mr, Hunter we pay our respects, Alfred Puckett Historian .,,,. 1 Sud, he-1 V Q! v 5. . b ' 'D , 'ti ,-,. f f A . x
