JMZM4 GM IContinuecU Amanda Iones wills her Phillips spirit, scholastic ability and power of winning friends to Calvin Hall and Lillian Harmon. Cleola Penman wills her school spirit, scholastic ability, alertness, and ability to attend all classes to her brother, George Penman. Lloyd O. Smith, wills his excellent speaking ability and his position as Editor of the year book to his brothers, Paul and Robert Smtih. To Mrs. Bousfield, we acknowledge our sincerest ap- preciation for the vigorous leadership her wise judge- ment and broad experience provided us: the satisfac- tion that, perhaps her indefatigable efforts have not been in vain: the reassurance that any success we may have attained is attributed to her: and finally the reassurance that the inspiration she has been to us will live as long as the memory of this eventful Senior Year. To the faculty we leave a broad field in which to wield their implements of enlightenment, while we recognize our debt of gratitude for the aid and sym- pathy they have given us. Having thus fulfilled our duty we hereby-on this twenty-sixth day of june in the year of our Lord, Nine- teen hundred and forty-one hereunto set our hands and our seals. Witnesses: Beatrice Blocker Jacqueline Bell Gustine Bolton Hattie Currie Dorothy Stokes Ora Williams U50 - R lg CLASS GRATITUDE It is altogether fitting and proper that we, The Graduating Class of Iune '41, bequeath to you our last and final master-piece of work. It has been only through your efficient guidance that we have been able to produce one of the greatest Annuals in the history of Wendell Phillips High School. This book does not contain all the knowledge which we have received, but it is typical of the ideals and great experience you have given us under your capable leadership. To our principal and faculty, we wish to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for having led us successfully these four years of toil and labor. We leave to our fellow comrades the spirit of good- will and may you work in harmony with the in- structors. We feel that the fundamental principles which you have bestowed us in our scholastic career has been great enough to encourage us onward to the road of success. Lloyd O. Smith xv .-' .'
