Principal Much is being said about the future of our youth and the responsibilities that they are to assume in this gener- ation. To many of our boys and girls leaving school, education will hold the key to their purpose or success in life. I feel that we have exposed many of you to this key of your security and your life ' s ambitions. But when I look back and review the men and women who have left Wendell High School, I wonder if we need not hold more than just security for ourselves. Should not life offer more than happiness for ourselves? Should we not make a generous contribution to the happiness of others and incidentally to ourselves, without the hope of something in return? Must we always be rewarded for our services rendered? To each of us shall come the challenge to render a service to our fellow man which lacks selfishness and brings us a light-hearted heart and a contented mind. Civic agencies, social and welfare, display a list of volunteer names of those who are giving time and their efforts beyond the call of duty . . . public spirited citi- zens, who serve without the thought of pay. This is the service we cannot teach. This is a service you can render in your generation. This is service at its best. CARL E. GRAD Principal 6
