flziqlzf Keane Ski Team Cleft to rightl Don Raymer, Vic Bess, Don l-lorey, Don Walker, Hal Lyons, Coach Frank Cumbo, Dick Parks. i949 has been a stellar year tor Wenatchee lunior College in skiing circles around the Northwest. The highetlying Knights won over the Vtfashington State B team, Whitman College, Cheney, Walla Walla College, and Yakima and Everett lunior Colleges. The only loss that mars a near perfect record was against Seattle University by a seven point margin. Spearheaded by co-captains Vic Bess and Don Walker the Knights ski team composed ot Dick Parks, Don Raymer, Don l-lorey, and Hal Lyons became the Washington State Iunior College Champions in addition to winning the second annual Whitman Invitational lnter- collegiate Ski Race and the coveted Falkenberg Trophy. We did tar better than any ot us realized we would do tor our tirst year in a major sport. Even in the one meet we lost this year against Seattle University, one of the top-notch ski- ing powers ot the Pacific Coast, our showing was highly commendable, said Ski Coach Frank Cumbo.
