Majorette Sue Glassley Head Majorette Connie Copeland Majorette Sue Byquist Majorette Anita Christie it takes three years with the same people working together reaching for the first strand of being old enough. it takes three years with them all striving each for his own goal thinking together trying together realizing together that life is beginning and together they will face the world. it's funny as I sit surrounded by friends how barren my life would be if there was no WHS to call my home away from home. -Susan S. Doerschuk M czjo Vette While watching a slim glittering baton twirl against the dark night and return to the waiting hand of a pretty majorette, one is aware of the hours of time and energy spent to create the precision act. The four majorettes rehearsed for performances dur- ing sixth period and other extra hours this year. Ar- lene's Studio of Dance and Baton aided the girls in smoothing over rough areas of their routines. Besides baton twirling, the majorettes experimented with twirling fire at homecoming. New uniforms, to be designed by Sue Byquist, were planned by the majorettes for the basketball season. Majorettes practice for future half-time entertainment.

WHS the 1st grade teacher looked down on us all and pounded it into our heads that although we were young and had incoherent minds some day we would understand this was to be our home away from home. home - to some it is a place of refuge of acceptance of affection- a place to be yourself and to be happy. in grade school all I thought of was recess and someplace to wear my halloween costume. it wasn't my home - home was with mother. each morning as we waited for the bus to junior high girls checked their hair Many of the school organizations are recognized by their colorful uni- forms. Representing these organizations are: Back row: Mark Jones, Wind Ensemble, Shirley Wilder, Pep Clubs, Vicki Hornfelt, Choral Society, Shir- ley Loesch, Pep Clubs, Sam Jackson, Golden Apple Marching Band, Tom Speidel, Wind Ensemble, Kathy Fortner, Apple-ettes Drill Team, Lova Delabarre, Pep Clubs. Front row: Carol Stallings, Girls' Club Cabinet, Alt 1 L - and hoped the slight touch of perfume was subtle yet powerful enough to attract that boy for a Friday night movie. and one boy here and one boy there would comb each wisp into place hoping the girls wouldn't see. but still each day I left quite quickly to go home. at home the phone might be ringing. the strange feeling of excitement as I entered the enormous doors - oh you're in high school my haven't you grown no - not really somehow as I think back to that very first lecture I realize that it takes three years of final procedure for a home away from the same to appear. Junior Varsity Cheerleaders: Julie O'Connor, Paula Smeltzer, Shelly Stockstill. The Boys' Club cheerleaders hope that practice will make perfect. Boys' Club Cheerleaders: Roger Bumps, Bob McAnally, Bill Rich- ards, Tom Speidel. beerleczciers The Wenatchee High School cheerleaders participated in many activities and assem- blies this year. During the summer the cheerleaders at- tended a cheerleading camp, where they were awarded the Spirit Stick for being extra-spirited. When school started, the cheerleaders led pep assemblies and per- formed at games. All of the cheerleaders - varsity, junior varsity, and Boys' Club cheerleaders -were selected not only on appearance, pep, and group co-ordination, but also on personal- ity, leadership, and originality.
