WHS the 1st grade teacher looked down on us all and pounded it into our heads that although we were young and had incoherent minds some day we would understand this was to be our home away from home. home - to some it is a place of refuge of acceptance of affection- a place to be yourself and to be happy. in grade school all I thought of was recess and someplace to wear my halloween costume. it wasn't my home - home was with mother. each morning as we waited for the bus to junior high girls checked their hair Many of the school organizations are recognized by their colorful uni- forms. Representing these organizations are: Back row: Mark Jones, Wind Ensemble, Shirley Wilder, Pep Clubs, Vicki Hornfelt, Choral Society, Shir- ley Loesch, Pep Clubs, Sam Jackson, Golden Apple Marching Band, Tom Speidel, Wind Ensemble, Kathy Fortner, Apple-ettes Drill Team, Lova Delabarre, Pep Clubs. Front row: Carol Stallings, Girls' Club Cabinet, Alt 1 L - and hoped the slight touch of perfume was subtle yet powerful enough to attract that boy for a Friday night movie. and one boy here and one boy there would comb each wisp into place hoping the girls wouldn't see. but still each day I left quite quickly to go home. at home the phone might be ringing. the strange feeling of excitement as I entered the enormous doors - oh you're in high school my haven't you grown no - not really somehow as I think back to that very first lecture I realize that it takes three years of final procedure for a home away from the same to appear.
