5. ex l it 'o ' M 7 Mr. Bill Asplund, Chemistry. Two kinds of students were accommodated by the WHS art department. One was the serious art stu- dent who might consider art as a careerg the other was the student seeking enjoyment from art skills. This year nine units of art were offered. The art de- partment would like to increase its program in the future to include commercial art, graphics, and possibly photography. Below: Mr. Bill Thorpe, Art, Crafts. Right: Mrs. Doris Kirk- patrick, Art, Crafts. Mrs. Ethel Case, Biology. Mr. Jack Brantner, Biology. The science department, which provided classes in biology, chemistry, and physics, worked toward two main goals. The first of these was to become acquainted with the scientific facts upon which the major concepts and theories of sci- ence are based. The second goal was to help the student appreciate the methods of science and to be able to par- ticipate intelligently in a scientifically oriented world. l 'll E, . t ,t 'X sgtgfffif 7 s - :tt , tm ,N s T X .... gf'
