Sophomore English classes had one semester of grammar and one semester of literature. In their literature classes they read Julius Caesar and books such as To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. Juniors had one semester of literature and the other semester they had a choice of drama, speech, or debate. Senior English was not a re- quired class for graduation, but most seniors took this class because it helped to meet college re- quirements. lt included a study of English lit- erature. Among other English classes offered to most jun- iors and seniors were Apple Leaf, journalism, ad- vanced drama, world literature, and creative writing.

Wenatchee High School's music department brought harmony and spirit to our fast-moving lives. The department included the bands, directed by Mr. Jay McCament, the orchestra, di- rected by Miss Darlene Pederson, and the choral groups, under the direction of Mr. Ron Jones. The math department had a two-track program, including hon- ors and regular math offerings, as well as vocational math stud- ies. The honors math program was for the student planning to pursue technical studies in college. Regular math classes were for the college-bound students ordinarily not planning to pur- sue mathematically-oriented careers. 8 'Tai tix! i '7h
