The ski team were guests at Snoqualmie Pass for a practice meet. Some of the team also traveled to White- hsh, Montana, for a junior National 4-way meet, Along with its other achievements, the team placed third in the Beta Cup, racing against 150 racers. For just a sample of the placing of our ski team, Dick Parkhill was llth in slalom for Beta Cup, Yard in cross country and Sth in slalom in the state meet. Dick Williams was lst in the jumping class at the state meet and Ken Paton was lst in the 4-way at Mt. Hood P. N. S. A. meet. Marl Kane was 3rd in the fi-way at Mt. Hood but later broke his leg which shelved him temporarily. Cal Vaughn placed 7th in Northwest Championships in jumping, and Paul Thomas was 4th in cross coun- try at the state meet. Last, but not least, Herb Thomas. Herb went back East to try out for the Olympics. We do not know the outcome of Hurricanes trip, but we, the Wa Wa staff, know he will do a swell job.
