The band is directed by Mr. Eugene Greco. The band attended the National Soap Box Derby races at Akron, the Ground Breaking Ceremonies for the Stratton Super-Dam, and many area parades. ln August, the band attended band camp for two weeks, where they worked hard in prepara- tion for football season. The most outstanding half-time show performed by the band was MacNamara's Band. This show was unveiled at the Football Preview held in East Liverpool, and was performed at some of rhe football games. The theme for the festival was An Old Fashioned Christmas. The band, directed by Mr. Greco, played sev- eral selections, including Merry Christmas, White Christmas, and Semper Fidelis. After los- ing to Farrell, the team beat Chester, and Newell. At midterm the Bengals lost the high scoring forward, Vincent Giles, and went on an eight-game losing streak. The most thrilling game of the season was the Steubenville Big Red game, in which Wellsville won on their home floor by a score of 48 to 44. The closest game was played with Chester on their floor. ln this game Chester came from behind to win 52 to 50. The team that gave the Bengals their worst de- feat was their arch-rival, East Liverpool. The Ben- gals lost this game by a score of 76 to 47.
