r i § i r i i ’ SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Recently as I gazed into ray crystal ball, I saw some very strange and interesting things. The time was twenty years hence, and, by a strange coincidence, all the people I saw had one thing in common—each was a member of the W.H.S. Graduating Class of 194-9• I beheld the great five-star general who we will remember as Richard Wright. He is in command of the American Peace-Time Army. I saw Mrs. Carl Porter, Jr. in her beautiful farm home busily preparing dinner for her husband and children. She is the former Dorothy Eckler. Hadley Hoffman finally got his heart’s desire to drive a big convert¬ ible; he is chauffeur for Mrs. Buff Orphington. By the way, Mrs. Orph- ington is the former Marilyn Ruth Valentine. I saw Marilyn Smith Pearson living near an Army Camp in Virginia to be near her husband. „ Anyone wishing to learn to dance will want to take lessons from Bobby Thornhill, head of an Arthur Murray dancing school. Recently he had been giving Fred Astair a refresher course. 4nn McClintic has retired from her career of nursing. She is now play¬ ing nursemaid to a husband and five children which keep her quite busy. I saw a World Series game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Brook¬ lyn Dodgers. Guess who is the great pitcher who is leading the Cards to a sure victory—Bobby Mac Berry I . A beautiful plane then flew across my line of vision; it was piloted by Loren May. Incidentally the hostess was Helen Hunter. „ The next time you make a telephone call, listen carefully, to the voice with a smile ; it might-be Betty McKnight who says, Number, please. Evelyn Boeckelman, Lillian Higgenbotham, and Wanda Stuart are making a round- the-world trip which they won on a radio program. We realize that only a graduate of W.H.S. could possibly be smart enough to answer those difficult quiz questions. We are very happy for these girls, as they have always wanted to travel. John Dunbar is now engaged—in farming that is. Miss Judy Worsham is holding down an executive position In St. Louis. Her ability and efficiency won her one promotion after another. If any of your children are of school age, we know you will want to send them to the school where Margaret Bentley Is teaching, as she has been a very successful teacher since graduation. Mrs. Claude Scott Is living in a trailer with her husband who works on the Wabash Railroad. They now have twins, a boy and a girl named Claud and Claudette. You will remember Mrs. Scott as Elsie Lott. There is a new and familiar face in the White House since the last election. It is, of course, our own Paul Dunbar. After working several years as a private detective, he decided to enter politics, and there he is. Incidentally our new President is advocating some radical rtforms, especially In the public school system, such ae the two-hour school day with an hour and fifty-five minutes out for lunch. That lovely secre¬ tary sitting on Paul ' s lap is none other than Nedra Cowan. We knew Nedra’s secretarial ability would land her In a position such as this some day. Don ' t miss the current show in town. That romantic lead with the big brown eyes and long lashes, making love to the beautiful leading lady, is Clifford May. After seeing the love scenes between him and Paul Dunbar in the Senior play, we realized he was destined to be a great actor. A second look showed the leading lady to be Barbara Hendricks. Roseann Fry has been Mrs. Alderson for many years now, and they are living in St. Louis with their four lovely children and four Ford trucks. Joan Maskey is a court reporter in New York City now, taking dictation at about two-hundred forty words a minute. Of course, she has changed her name, and in her spare time keeps house for her husband and Dan Smith, Junior. T , Bill Bylsma is doing quite well for himself In St. Louis as head of the advertising department of Famous-Barr. Just his good look3 alone is enough to make the firm famous. 37
