w H S 7 9 WINDOWS ON TOMORROW X-RAY 1979 Wellston High School Wellston, Ohio 45692 2 As we entered a new school year, we were once again filled with the hope of attaining pre-determined goals. Each of us worked to improve ourselves and to build our future. Whether attending band camp or assisting Sadie in the office, we worked hard and strived for improvement of all aspects of our lives. This optimistic outlook was evident throughout the year, as many new and interesting projects were initiated and carried out. This was the attitude of our school and these are our windows on tomorrow. 3 We enrolled in our new courses with new hopes, dreams, and the expectation of what was to come. Then, in a single moment our dreams were shattered. But always, we picked ourselves up and kept striving, each time exceeding a past performance and improving ourselves. 5 Throughout each of our activities, whether you sing in the choir; cheer for the team, help formulate student opinions or work the gate at the disco, a person learns how to deal with people and at the same time, retain knowledge which will be helpful in his or her future. 6 7 STUDENT ACTIVITIES Improvements The Student Council was one of the most active organizations at WHS. This group of elected students completed projects such as obtaining a smoking area complete with benches made by the Shop Club, painting the halls with modern designs with the help of the art classes, land scaping the front lawn with shrubs and flowers, and sponsoring discos. We wish to thank these people for showing pride in our school. 10 1. . STUDENT COUNCIL: Row 1: Left to Right: D. Staten, J. Pittenger, J. Oths, C. Gardener, A. King, D. Kessler. Row 2: M. Swonger, M. Never losing confidence or pride in their school, these young women continued to produce that endless drive of support for the football and basketball teams in both the fall and winter. IT Student Ecologists Several clubs are offered at W.H.S. to aid in vocational growth. One such club is The Future Farmers of America. These people stay behind the scenes and never really credit themselves for the various things that they do for others. Instead, they keep giving of themselves in any way that they can, gaining credit only in a distant way. They obtain their hard earned credit by noting the achievements of the people that they have assisted throughout the years. We wish to thank these people for helping those of us who need a strong hand to guide us through the vicissitudes of today's society. 1. If it had not been for the assistance of these dedicated people, it would not have been possible to complete this book. Therefore, in closing, we wish to acknowledge these people for all of their help and say thanks for being there when needed. It is people and opportunities like these that help in constructing our windows on tomorrow.
