In the light of Watergate and several local problems, W HS Seniors formed fictitious “clubs”. These “clubs” such as the FPA (Future Presidential Aids) were designed to expose the ideas of WHS Seniors on certain subjects. The upper left picture shows FPA members practicing their wire tapping. The upper right shows the Crust Crimpers experimenting with paper. The middle right pictures the American Book Binders attempting to continue the use of outdated and worn books at WHS. n

Commencement 1975 May 28, 1975, and we are at long last graduated seniors. The seniors marched into the auditorium to “Pomp and Circumstance” as performed hy Aria Gilliland and Bobbi Jo Ervin. Invocation was given by Father DeVille. Entertainment was provided by the WHS Choir who sang “Cry Aloud” by John Ness Beck, “Annie’s Song” by John Denver, “The Way We Were” by Marvin Hamlish. The highlight of commencement was the class address given by WSAZ-TV News Commentator Bos Johnson. Valedictorian Denise Hambrick, and salutatorian Charlie Milliken, gave their speeches. Superintendent of the Wellston City Schools, Mr. Ralph McCormick, presented the diplomas. Graduates and guests then joined in the singing of the ALMA MATER. The benediction was given by Reverend Robert Davis. 21

Class Day—Senior Fun As part of the activities during commencement week, seniors held their traditional class day. Remembering the past with class histories from elementary school, predicting the future with the class prophecy, and reading the class will in which seniors leave such items as study hall seats, good times, and “abilities” to remaining students are the standard activities of the day. Highlighting the program were the gifts, mostly humorous, sometimes serious, but all given in fun, presented to the faculty and staff members. One embarrassing moment for the seniors was when Mr. Lintala didn’t need the razor given him as he had secretly shaved both his thick heard and mustache the night before.
