Text from Pages 1 - 144 of the 1963 volume:

J k. X Ray Wellsloa High 'School Wei Is+on , Ohio The halls are darkened, peaceful, still No sign of life or hope And yet above the stillness is an echo Of the Past. Laughter is silenced, hopes are stilled Yet unborn dreams remain And Penetrate the aging, wanting memory Of the Past. The hearts from which the echoes came Will never be whole again, For hidden within these walls A piece of each heart clings To the past. New dreams will come, new voices will call, New hopes will be fulfilled, Only to fade into the slowly changing echo Of the Past. Though each dream dies and each hope fades, This echo will remain For locked within these hallowed halls Is the knowledge Of the Past. 2 Esther Harnish PROLOGUE These are the best days .... the days we will always remember with deep feeling and fond affection. These days are filled with learning --not only of factual knowledge but of life as well. We learn how to work together and accomplish our goals. We learn to lose as well as to win. Every moment of life cannot be captured in a yearbook, but through it, memories of Life at Wellston High can be awakened. The 1963 X-Ray, by preserving some of these treasures within its pages and inside a permanent cover, tells us in word that life is Transition. Editors DEDICATION This year the Senior Class wishes to dedicate the 1962-1963 X-Ray to a woman who is well known to all of the students and faculty. She has the respect and admiration of all the students of Wellston High School past and present. She is willing to assist them in their everyday problems. It is with deep gratitude that we the Editors and staff of the X-Ray dedicate this book to Mrs. Sadie Ford. HALL MONITORS TEEN TOWN COUNCIL Paul Williams Charles Russell LEFT TO RIGHT: J. Beil, L. School was open and by the end of the first week some 600 high school and junior high school students had enrolled for the 1962-1963 school year. For the Seniors it marked a milestone in their education. This was the year they had all awaited. The Junior-Senior Prom and the annual class trip to Washington were two outstanding activities that were in store for these Seniors. For the Juniors and Sophomores it meant another year of waiting and anticipation. For the Freshmen it meant a new experience ad they were orientated into high school. For those who came from grade school to the Junior High, new experiences also waited them -- changing classes and meeting new friends. Thus another school year begins. 8 IN THE FALL FOOTBALL IS KING! However, with the cooperation of many people, we hope that we have presented the student body in a book that will be treasured. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the following persons who are responsible for making the 1963 X-Ray a success: MR. SWICK and THE FACULTY for their cooperation in letting us work in a schedule for the taking of the pictures for the book. DR. JOHN BUTLER for his help with the photography. MR. MAX HENDERSHOTT for his assistance with the art work. OUR ADVERTISERS for their support and financial assistance.
