We remember Mrs. Pool first as our primary rhythm band teacher. Then memories come thick and Fast. We remember how she helped us with our assembly programs in grade school, and how she tried to teach us do, re, mi. We remember how she trained our vocal ensem- blesp how she accompanied us in all our musical efforts in high schoolp how she worked with us on our entertainment for banquets and parties, and for our graduation exercises. We recall with gratitude all her kindness to us, and thank her heartily. Eulan Edwards The Future Farmers of America study vocational agriculture in the classroom, and carry on a super- vised farming program of produc- tion proiects in crops, poultry, beef, dairy, and swine at their homes and farms. Soil conserva- l tion and welding are two other i important fields of study. The Future Farmers participate in local, county, and state shows as judges and exhibitors, and help conduct the local fair at Wellston. The most colorful event of the year was the chapter banquet in April . Here we entertained our parents, and honored those boys and adults who have done outstand- ing jobs in developing agriculture in our community. Leading scoring was done by E.W. Thompson and Ray Stanfield who had a 13.5 and 12.3 record respectively. Other top contributors to the scoring were Wayne Baber, Dee Legako, and J.L. Ford. The reserves Darrell Lee, Ray McLain, Calvin Dumas, Clifford Harris, and Fred Gallaher helped make the season a success. The Tigerettes were a very young team this year, with only one senior on the squad. The iuniors, sophomores, and several freshmen gained good experience, and the team developed and improved as the season progressed. The Wellston junior high girls basketball team started the season November 6, with a victory over Meeker and ended the season February 27 with their 22nd victory, a win over Jones. Included in these 22 victories were the championship of the Jones Invitational Tour- ney and the Lincoln County Junior High Tourney. The Tiger Cubs played hard, close games this season, losing several games by only a point or two. They had lots of hustle and lots of heart.
