IRL ' ASKETB LL BACK ROW Left to Right Marilyn M1ller,Karen aeNeu1, Margaret Snyder, Mr Kragel, Le Ann Eiten, Kay weichers, Carol Janssen, Miss Bird FRONT ROW Linda Hook,Jan1ce OKones,Mardelle Bakker, Sandra Frerichs, Ardyth Heinrich, Elinor Peters, Kayleen Koch, Joyce Huisman In the fall of l955,twenty nine girls reported to our new coach Roy Kragel for basketball practice Returning lettermen were Janice OKones,Ardy He1nr1ch,Mardelle Bakker,El1nor Peters, Sandie Frerlchs, Janice Etjen, Le Ann Eiten, Linda Hook, and Kay Weichers Jovce Huisman was forced to quit basketball after she injured her Knee during practice In our first year in the Pine Lake Conference, we were defeated in the championship game by Union Whitten by the score of 39 32 The biggest thrill was in the sectional tournament which was played at Wellsburg when we defeated Steamboat Rock, Owasa, and Finchford to take the sectional tournament Sandie Frerlchs and Janice Etjen represented our team in the free throw contest Sandie was runner up in the sectional contest, but was defeated at the district We played Williams in the first game of the district tournament at Aplington We won by a score of 5? U9 In the second round we lost to State Center U2 50, which was played at Le Grand In the consolation game we were defeated by Roland 33 57 Our record for the season was 20 wins and 9 losses Those on the team were Senior guards, Janice OKones, Ardy Heinrich, Mardelle Bakker,El1nor Peters, senior forward,Sand1e Frerichs, Junior guards, Kay Weichers, Kayleen Koch, junior forward, Joyce Huisman, sophomore guard, Margaret Snyder, sophomore forwards,Jan1ce Etjen,LeAnn Elten, Linda Hook, freshmen forward, La Vonne Meester Miss Bird was our chaperone and Marilyn Miller, our manager All five seniors want to wish the future teams a lot of good luck Sandie Frerichs lub Joyce Huisman Linda Hook Le Ann Elten Janice Etjen LaVonne Meester 221 O 20 182 2 2 Janice OKones Elinor Peters Mardelle Bakker Kay Welchers Kayleen Koch Margaret Snyder Ardyth Heinrich gg l F,G.
