FACULTY - Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Rowe. Mrs. Spear, Mr. Willard, Mr. Stoughton. To the class of 1963 ---- Graduation from high school is an important event in your life, for it means that you have successfully com- pleted a prescribed course of study in preparation for further formal training or for work in some other field of en- deavor. It is well to remember, however, that preparation and learning is a never ending process for anyone who hopes to get the most out of life. Have your good times, but do not let yourself become slack in your ideals or future undertakings. The choices and decisions you make will determine, to a great extent, what the future holds for you. Following is a verse by Edgar Guest which will give you something to aim for: You are the fellow who has to decide Whether you'll do it or toss it aside. You are the fellow who makes up your mind Whether you'll lead or linger behind, Whether you'll try for a goal that’s afar Or just be content to stay where you are. Take it or leave it, Here's something to do! Just think it over - it's all up to you.” To each of you I extend congratulations and best wishes. EDITORIAL WHY GO TO COLLEGE? Most parents in America today want their children to go to college and the major- ity of the children are anxious to go. But why should the ones go that don't want to go or don't have the aptitude? Should they go because their parents went, their parents can afford to send them, they might enjoy the social life, or because they heard someone say that there is no future for them without a college education? If you do not go to college with a desire and a will to increase your knowledge, then you will not get an education. You may have a good time during your years in college and you may receive a diploma but you will not have an education! Robert M. Hutchins said, College is a place to learn how to think. A college graduate who has not learned how to think may make a million dollars, but he will have wasted his time going to college.” I am sure we have all heard someone say, The only ones who have a chance to get a good job and earn much money are college graduates. Of course we know how im- portant money is but aren't there more important things in the world than money? What about happiness? Is this always obtained by money? I once heard a student say, No one in this town has a future without a college ed- ucation! This is an unwarranted statement. How can anyone analyze another's future? As Robert M. Hutchins said, If you have the understanding, which produces moral and intellectual excellence, you will have character. You cannot be right without knowing what is right and what is wrong. If you go to college, be sure to get an education! Name: ELLOUISE GOLDEN CUSHING (Ella-Squeeze) Born: February 15, 1945 - Woodsville, N.H.
