KdXi DEDICATION i' r EDITOR ASSISTANT EDITOR YEARBOOK STAFF - Richard Evans, Pierre Guillemette, Mrs. Gibson, Advisor, John Blake, Stanley Beck, Ruth Ranno, Sandy Anderson, Paul Powers, Joani Spear, Linda Rosa, Bonnie VanHamont. ADMINISTRATION FACULTY Carroll Stoughton, University New Hampshire, B. S., Math; Elizabeth Gibson. Westminster, B. A., English; Jean Spear, Tufts, B. S., Social Studies, Languages; Thomas Ketcham, University of Vermont, B. S., Sciences. SCHOOL BOARD Mrs. Dorothy Stevens, Dr. Harry Rowe, Mr. George Bidwell, Absent when picture was taken. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. This quotation applies to you and the senior stu- dents of Wells River High School more now than ever before. Why is this true? Passing through the door-way to the space age our nation needs men and women whose careers will benefit not only themselves but also their country. As President John F. Kennedy said in his inaugural address to the nation: Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country. There is no vocation in which this does not apply. A country is as good as the people of which it is composed. An inexperienced, unintelligent citizen is not the backbone of a country that is constantly growing and strengthening itself. Everyone should choose a vocation in which he will aim to improve his curcumstances, financially, socially and most important of all intelligently. Success comes through courage, faith, ambition, and a willingness to work. All of this training will make a person better qualified to serve his country. Our country needs intelligent hard working and foreseeing generations to take the place of preced- ing ones, year by year. Each person should ask himself seriously the question, Am I helping my country enough? Joan Spear Editor SENIORS Name: LINDA LEE ROSA (Linda) Bom: June 6, 1943 - Woodsvllle, N. H. After our debts and funeral expenses have been paid, we dispose of our estates as follows: We, the Seniors, will Mrs. Rowe an assistant to watch the gum chewers and spit ball throwers during music class. To Mrs. Gibson, we, the Seniors, will a class that will arrive on time. It gets mono- tonous checking tardy every morning. We will to Mr. Stoughton a bigger and better office with more efficient office help. We, the Senior Class, will to Mrs. Spear a typing room that will be used for typing only. We will Mr. Ketcham a double powered alarm clock. This should wake you up in time for the long jaunt across the street. To Sam Stanley, we, the Seniors, will four husky boys to take the place of the help- ful Seniors that always get your work done for you. To our coach, Arnold Bandy, we will a position as athletic director in the new union school, that is if you don't have a long gray beard by the time it is built. We, the Seniors Girls, will to Ann, Michele, and Carol, our title of Empress. We, the Senior Boys, will to the Junior Boys the pleasure of outvoting the girls even though the girls have outnumbered us. To the Sophomore class, we will four more boys; now you'll have more of a choice, girls. We, the Seniors, will the Freshmen, training pants now that you're out of diapers. The Senior Class wills to the underclassmen the ability to gain the title of the Cheapest class. You're going to have a hard time in trying to keep up with us. I, Richard Evans, will my Volkswagon and its keys to the Sophomore girls. Now you won't have to walk to Woodsville everyday. I, John Blake, will my seat in Mrs. Gibson's study hall to Barry Boardman, and my ability to get all E’s for excellent. I, Pierre Guillemette, will my '56 blue Ford to the highest bidder. The bids start at 25 . I, Bonnie VanHamont, will to the Sophomore Girls my ability to speak and not be heard. I, Stanley Beck, will my wings and halo to any devil. I, Joani Spear, will my reputation of being a Question Box to Frankie. From the questions I’ve heard asked it seems as though you've already begun to follow in my footsteps. I, Ruth Ranno, will to Cay Vigneau my ability to get a ring and keep it. I, Pierre Guillemette, will to Paul Powers my title of WEB, since you'll be the Senior FROG next year. I, Linda Rosa, will ALL of my height to Jane Powers. There's not much of it but what's there you can have. I, Richard Evans, will to Carleton Deming my smooth line and ability to get along with all the girls. I, Sandy Anderson, will to Jane Leonard my ability to go steady with a guy for more than a week without a fight. I, Joani Spear, will to the future female chemists of W. R. H. S. a new supply of peroxide and a booklet on How to Bleach Your Hair. I, John Blake, will jo anyone that wants it, my ability to find ways of getting out of school. Just volunteer to do the dirty work. It's more relaxing than struggling through a hard class. I, Sandy Anderson, will to Mary Stoughton my ability to get along with one man. Variety may be the spice of life, Mary, but all good things must come to an end. I, Ruth Ranno, will to Carol Mayhew my ability to type newspaper stencils with only two errors. It will save ink eradicator, Carol. I, Bonnie VanHamont, will to Margaret Gaylor my ability to look at a picture of a snake without getting the willies. You'd better watch it, Margaret, there’s more than one kind of snake around here. I, Stanley Beck, will to Jane Powers my ability to blush. If you put that with your own ability you would set the world on fire. Witnessed and Signed by: Arnold Bandy Mr. Ketcham CLASS PROPHECY On a fine spring morning I was sitting at my desk In the Nurses Station in New York City’s largest hospital. As I looked up from my work, I seemed to recognize a fine looking young man walking down the corridor. Realizing that it was Pierre Guillemette, I went to meet him. Pierre told me he'd heard I was employed at the hospital and he had come to ask me If I’d like to make a trip to the Metropolis of Barre, Vermont. I phoned my apartment and left word of my journey. Pierre summoned a taxi driver. We traveled to the airport where we went aboard the Guillemette Super-Duper Jet. In a matter of minutes we landed on the Granite City air strip. We hired a car and drove to Bast Barre stopping at the Bubble Motors Garage. John Blake had a series of garages with the headquarters in East Barre. John had custom- ized a special racing car for Pierre to race at Indianapolis. As we talked of old times, we decided to visit all our former classmates. Persuading John to accompany us, we went to the principal’s office of the Wells River Area School. We heard a raised voice, one that sounded familiar, the door opened and a fiery eyed student dashed out. We proceeded into the office greatly surprising Joani Spear. Joani told us the school year was drawing to an end and she had decided to resign from the office of principal. I noticed her left hand, saw the sparkling diamond and then realized why Joani was no longer interested in teaching. By the twinkle in Joani's eye I knew at once who the lucky guy was. Do you?? We returned to our car and crossed the bridge to Woodsville. John wasn't certain where Ruthie Ranno lived but we soon spied her. Mrs. Locke was out at the clothes line hanging up her washing. Ruthie had three fine looking children. She tried to persuade us to stay for supper, but we told her we had to be on our way. Insisting that no one could take care of his business, John went back to East Barre and Pierre and I returned to our former homes agreeing to start on the rest of our journey the next morning, at 7:30. Having Inquired about the rest of our classmates, we decided it would be better to motor back to the airport and fly to visit our friends. In a little town in Massachusetts, we found Bonnie Van Hamont’s widely known Animal Hospital. Her husband was a farmer and Bonnie had three Veterinarian Degrees. She was called for her services all over the world. We learned that Richard Evans had become one of the best surveyors in the United States. The government had hired him to supervise the new Super Underground Highway connecting the U. S. with Europe. Richard told us he was still looking for the right girl but enjoying himself while doing so. Once again Pierre started his jet engines and we flew to Miami Beach, Florida. Vacationing in Florida, we found Sandy Anderson and her husband, an executive of the A. P. Food Stores. Sandy, glowing with a beautiful tan, was sitting in her patio with her twin daughters. Pierre and I said good- bye to Sandy and continued on our journey. Our final stop was to see Stanley Beck. Stanley finished his TV show, then took us to dinner where we could chat. This completed the round of the class of 1961. Feeling quite satisfied in seeing all our friends, I returned to New York to my family which I forgot to mention, my husband, a fine young doctor, and our little boy and girl. Pierre, also pleased with our visit, returned to his home in Indianapolis where he intended to test the car he purchased from the Bubble Motors Garage. Linda Rosa CLASS MOTTO.
