HEALTH Medical Clinic Polish Sokol Health Building Exercises Transportation with Sutety The relief stations play an equally important part in preserving the health and the morale of the community through supplying the needy with adequate nourishing food and with other necessities of life. The many public parks and playgrounds in the com- munity afford innumerable health and recreational activities to the younger generation. These parks and playgrounds keep the young people off the dangerous streets and corners when not in school. There are com- munity organizations such as the Polish Sokol where many happy hours are spent in gymnastics, recreation and caiisthenics. Safety in the community is a vital part of health preservation and much care and precaution is taken toward the perfection of that end. Street repairs and other safety precautions are steps taken by the com- munity to minimize accidents. New projects are constantly being carried out to improve and preserve the health of the community. 15

Community Relief Station Safety in the Community Among the numerous services that the community offers, perhaps the most important is its provision for the safeguarding of public health. This includes health services rendered by dental and medical clinics, relief stations and health building organizations as well as safety measures, provided for the protection of life. Were it not for these services the health of our community would not be adequately cared tor. No longer need faulty teeth, defective eyesight, nor any other physical defect go uncared for because of a lack of sufficient funds. Medical clinics such as the Northwestern Medical clinic, Wicker Park clinic, and the Municipal Tuberculosis clinic care for the ills of needy persons who cannot afford to pay the regular fee. 14 CQMMUNITY Municipal Tuberculosis Clinic Northwestern Medical Clinic

To completely do this the school must offer more opportunity for the Well- balanced growth and development of its stu- dents. The W'ells Civic Association, while presenting a commendable service to the student body, gives individual pupils a chance to assume leadership and positions of responsibility. EX- perience in political activities is obtained through active participation in the yearly convention and election for association officers. The W. C. A. takes great pride in its services Which benefit both the community and the school.
