The Montello veteran Tomaselli scored 27 points to defeat Wells almost single-handed in the second game of the season for the Leopards. The score was 39-l5. Carlin came to Wells and, despite a last- minute rally, dropped a 35-32 decision. The Leopards showed more class than in any other game. The Elko lndions came to Wells and were lucky to leave with their scalps. The score at the end of the game was l3-l3. Wells rolled the ball around the hoop but it would not drop in. Elko made the first basket in the overtime period to win the game l5-l3. Battle Mountain showed srnooth passing in their game here and jumped into a lead in the third quarter which was too much for the Leopards to overcome. The final score was 30-13 in the visitors' favor. Wells kept the pressure on Winnemucca and came fast in the last quarter to outscore them lU-4. The gun, however, stopped the Leopards' rally, with the Buckaroos on the long end of a 27-23 score. Eureka came to Wells and lead the Leo- pards for three quarters. Wells was not tc be denied and jumped into the lead to win 40-35. Plustin, using a tight zone defense, kept the Leopards from scoring very heavily, but Wells won 24-l3. .IR ,A R' FA' '-. f'L --1 Pete Isola, loe McDaniel, Rex Brooks, Clair Knudse n Frank 'White Ed Cororie, Bill Kerr, lack Blaclcet .24. --s 6

The Leopards went down to Carlin and found them a much improved outfit. Carlin jumped into an early lead and won 38-27. Montello played here and again it was too much Tomaselli and Benedetti. Montello won 5l-22. The Leopards took a trip to Battle Mountain and, in a game that was much closer than the score showed, lost 45-28. For the first time in eleven years Wells defeated Winnemucca, the zone champions this year. Winnemucca started their second string and held a l4-ll lead at the half. The first string started the second half and Wells outplayed them, pulling ahead in the last quarter to win a 28-27 decision. For the first time in three years Wells broke even on the Eureka-Hustin games. They .45 f N 7 Y' K? f- .Q , i I f J' .'1lffYflYTl?'Il' lilfll' lost to Eureka 4l-l9, and defeated Hustin 25-22. In the tournament Wells played Winne- mucca the first game. Filthough the final score was 37-12, it was not until the last quarter that the Buckaroos had much of a lead on the Wells Leopards. ln the consola- tion bracket Wells nosed out a fighting Hus- tin team 29-27 in an overtime game. Hustin was in the lead until, with five seconds to go, Wells made a free throw and tied the score. The Leopards made the first basket in the first thirty seconds of the overtime period. For the fifth consecutive year the Leopards played in the finals of the consolation tourna- ment and were again turned back. Way off on their shooting, they dropped a 54-l7 de- cision to Montello. - 4- T' I 11: 1 ,Q xg 5 igwx, - ' ggtzji 3, X iff ltslfff :QQ l-, ,,i, -- ,L Ralph Blackett, lames Oxley, Gene Supp, Danny Remick, Evan Nielson, Eugene Pengelly, Lee Nielson, Manuel Sierra, Glenn Supp.
