S UPERIN TENDEN T ,S MESSA GE MR. ROBERT W. JOHNSON, SUPERINTENDENT Education is a privilege. Our forefathers made great sacrifices to establish the American Public School System which guarantees a free public education through high school to all deserving American youth. In the early history of our country education was recognized as desirable. Today, a good education is more necessary than ever before. Many industries will not grant a job inter- view unless one has a high school diploma. Many demand a college background for executive positions. Make YOUR high school career worthwhile. Plan your selection of courses to lead on to something, either to higher education or to a better place in to- day's world of work. Above all else, be thankful that you live in America where you can be trained along lines of your own choice. YOUR life is what YOU make it. We, parents and teachers, stand ready to help in any way we can.

PRI CIPAIXS MESSAGE MR. RUSSELL K. NOYES, PRINCIPAL Our society today makes more demands upon you young people than ever before. It becomes increasingly difficult for you to live up to your convictions as to how you want to live. Pressures cause you to give in and do things the easy way. If you are not strong in your stand to defend your beliefs, you will find that you soon will become one of the many people who do not defend their ideals because they fear that they will be critized by those who disagree. As a result, you, as with many of the others, will follow the path of least resistance. Such a path never leads to accomplishments which are needed to better the society in which we live. Remember, progress was never made ex- cept at the expense of those people who truly believe in what they were doing and, therefore, took a stand in behalf of their beliefs. As you travel through life, have faith in and love for your fellow human beings. Have compassion, love, tolerance, and understanding for those around you and you will never be without peace of mind.
