V ,, ' .1 j 3 , 1 ss : A. . as , U .Q , .ii PAGE Pl JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY On September eleventh 1950 I and forty three other uneasy bewildered and timid students entered Wells High School as a very promising Freshman Class We were all able to endure the trials and tribulations of Freshman Week and the gala and h1lar1ous Freshman Reception The festivities over we settled down to the tiresome though indispensible routine of our daily studies Miss Marion Free man and Miss Mary C Petrella were designated as our class advisers the latter having Just Joined the Wells teaching staff that year At our first class meeting the following class officers were elected President Anne Adams Vice President Jane Chase Secretary Francesca Clark and Treasurer Richard Bryant In September 1951 we entered Wells High School as a class of forty one Sophomores under the guidance of M1ss Mary C Petrella Our officers for this year were President Tanya Kovalchick Vice President Gretchen Remlck Sec retary Peggy Brid es and Treasurer Richard Bryant It was durlng this year that we encountered our first difficulty namely the problem of raising sufficient funds for our Semor Class Trip However several successful social activities undertaken by our class alleviated the problem Last September forty two students again returned to Wells High School a the Junior Class under the supervision of Mr Franklin Charbonneau the new enjoyable task of initiating the Freshmen We held a very successful and enter taining Freshman Reception at which everyone had fun including the Freshmen This year the class officers are President Cameron Smith Vice President Jane Chase Secretary Francesca Clark and Treasurer Richard Bryant The last mentioned has been the only member of the class to hold the same office for three consecutive years We have had the privilege of welcoming three new students to our class this year namely Ronald Ranco Lois MacCarl1e and Carole Ames Two other class members Tanya Kovalchlck and Lyle Brooks are spending the winter in Florida but will return to us in the spring A disappointment to us all was the departure of our secretary Francesca Clark who was a friend to all Peggy Bridges was then elected to fill the ofiice of secretary in her place At Christmas time the Juniors were glven the opportunity of presenting the Glee Clubs Christmas Concert The class expresses its heartiest thanks to Mrs Verna McCullough for her guidance in the presentation of the concert Although our class has had its financial problems we are well noted as a class with a good scholastic record All in all the Jumors have been very successful in dramatics music and athletics The Junior Class is looking forward to its Senior year and to the many ad ventures it brings So, when you hear the name Junior Class of Wells High School smile and say Hats off to the Class of 54 LYDIA KIMBALL 54 I ' v 1 ' s . v , ' v ! . - ' Y . t . .
