BACK ROW: Larry Creighton, Phillip Rush, Richard Swartz, J oe Eckersley, Leon Caldwell F. F. . The F. F. A, is an intra-curricular part of the Vocational Agriculture course. The Future Farmers of America is a national organization of, by, and for boys studying vocational agriculture in public secon- dary schools under the provisions of the National Vocational Education Acts. The program of work was formulated early in the year and a copy was distributed to each F.F.A. member. Our program of work has been entered in the sectional contest. During October the group selected two teams for a pest contest. Many rats, mice, pigeons, crows, sparrows, and even a fox were eliminated as pests in our community. The winning team will pay all expenses for a party, Early November found the F,F,A, boys on their way to Chicago for the International Livestock Show. During the morning we visited the Board of Trade building. An exciting trip on the elevated brought the group back to the livestock show, where they spent the rest of the day observing the fine quality livestock and grain on display. The following received awards at the Sectional Grain show: Ross Butzow received an A rating for Corn, Wheat, Clover and Oats. Dave Moore received an A rating for Soybeans. Larry Leaver received an A rating for Corn. Don Bury received an A rating for Wheat. John Holt received a B rating for Corn. Ron Hunt received a B rating for Wheat. Bill Galloway received a B rating for Oats and a C rating for Corn. A team of five boys traveled to New Lennox on April 12 to enter the partiamentary procedure contest. On April 17 all the boys in the Junior and Senior class entered the foundation awards contest and on April 23, one member of our F. F.A. was selected to participate in the public speaking contest held at Cissna Park. All the parents gathered at the high school on April 24 for the Parent and Son potluck supper, and on April 27 the F. F.A. sponsored a Donkey Basketball game. There are a few of the activities Listed in the program of work. The F. F.A members are proud of their work for the year and feel that we completed a successful year.
