Marcine Myers, secretaryg Robert Dickensheets, presi- dentg Judy Mitchell, vice presidentg Phyllis Malkmus, treasurer. Six years ago the seniors of 1951 en- tered Wellington high school. Since that time they have been molded into one of the outstanding classes of all time. As seventh graders this class made it- self known with the Blue Triangle party as the highlight of the year. The eighth grade year was climaxed by a wonderful picnic at Wood's Park. As freshmen this class really commenced to work. Twelve members of the class were chosen as Junior Lion's Award winners. Those selected for the honor were: Thelma Goodrum Nida, Shirley Davis, Joanne Howe, Sue Van Deventer, Joan Murphy, Susanne Garland, Clifton Matthews, Elliott Fry, Henry Schmidt, Vernon Frank, Jack Rudd, and Gerald Shofner. Proving their true Yannigan spirit, the junior high football team completed the year without having their goal line crossed. To celebrate this victory they chose Thelma Goodrum Nida to reign as princess at their football party. Henry Schmidt was chosen to preside at all junior high assemblies and federation meetings. Under the leadership of Henry Schmidt, President, Susanne Garland, Vice President, and Shirley Wright, Secretary-Treasurerg these Crusaders completed a successful sopho- more year. The big event of the year was presenting three one-act plays under the direction of Miss Pauline Shockey. Early in the fall of their junior year the class took the first step toward graduation by ordering their class rings. The Junior play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, was a smash-hit, co-starring Janet Fisher and Susanne Garland. On May 5 the Juniors entertained the Seniors amid gypsy campfires, wishing wells, and fortune tellers at the unforgettable junior-senior prom, Gypsy Serenade. Elmo Terhune proved to be a cap- able president of this active year with Vernon Frank, Dwaine Kurtz, and Shirley Wright assisting him. The senior year was the most successful of all, filled with such events as the senior play, a laughable comedy entitled Our Miss Brooks , with Judy Eakins playing the leading role. The skip day was truly a sl-:ip day and turned out to be a success. Baccalaureate and Commencement will be days never to be forgotten. Robert Dick- ensheets led the class through this year with flying colors. The other officers were: Judy Mitchell, Vice President: Marcine Myers, Secretary: and Phyllis Mall-zmus, Trea- surer. Raymond Gaster was chosen to rule over the student federation but left for the Armed Forces at mid-semester. Richard Ressler took over the duties as Vice President and proved to be successful. As the senior class of 1951 marches out of Wfellington high school for the last time, they take these fond memories with them. This page sponsored by LAWRENCE DRUG CO. SENICR CLASS OF 1951
