J, -. -'I -if THE 1973 CLASS PROPHECY The year is 1993. Craig Norton and millionaire Bob Fortney are talking over old times in Bob's penthouse apartment. I don't get back to Wellington these days, Craig. What have you heard that our class has done in the last 20 years? asked Bob. Well, I was talking to Bill Rugg, the last surviving hippie, the other day, and he filled me in on our class- mates' accomplishments. He said that the old school just isn't the same since Gary Stecker became principal. Linda Dobney is his secretary. Merle Ziegler, the basketball coach, has just finished a 17-0 season. John Brinker is now the choir director, while Bob Sheffield teaches physics, specializing in snow storms. Becky Greene, Suanne Couch, and Debbie Keppers are battling it out in the grade school as teachers. Kathy Rice Hamilton, Lou Anne Bonewit, Karen Bryant, Mary Jo Clodwick, Donna Twining, and Jackie McClaflin are happily married homemakers. Many of our classmates have gone into business. Mike Edwards has made millions from selling Hoover Vac- uum Cleaners. Nancy Cassell and Bill Lemke are auto designers, while Bev Waite and Kathie Kimmel are fash- ion designers. Their salesman, Jon Dobney, has shown many originals to Pam Horvath, who needs a large wardrobe in her advertising business. Wendy Berger has a Christmas tree farm with Steve Lloyd, Ralph Pol- ing, and Roger Oldaker as her salesmen. Rangers John Williams and Steve Maurer advise her on conservation matters. Professional racers Dave Loper, Rick Brasee, and Mike Floyd have finished in the money this year due to the help of mechanics Terry Storrow, Tom Chester, and Dennis McQuate. The professions were not neglected by our class. Linda Danesi and Melody Cloyd have become famous for their first brain transplant performed on the willing subject, Arnie Crites. They were assisted by nurses Joy Ache, Patty Manning, and Kathy Smith. Mary Kay Hanson and John Hayes are both scientists studying the cause of laughter. They are using Kim Stoddard and Cherrie Gott as subjects. Holly Kimmich is a professional scuba diver. Many classmates entered the sporting world. Gene Pork Hartman was named all pro tackle, but he was out-dazzled by the pinch-runner of football, T McMahon. Bill Cadman made the men's Olympic shot team, complemented by Susan Friend's making the women's team. Ken Cole became famous for his high jumping in the NBA. Wayne Simonson was this year's Davis Cup champion with Dan Roseler being a close challenger. Greg Hart, Forrest Mohrman, Howard Copp, Tim Danesi, and Dan Davison let today's Army join them. Many of the class members have ventured forth to become members of the new colony on the moon. Daily flights are flown for commuters. Pilot Kevin Conley is one of the rocket commanders, he is assisted by co-pilot Fred Tegtmeyer. Stewardesses on the flights are Peggy Comstock, Jane Hartmann, Sandy Sharp, and Lisa Walker. Many businessmen such as Mike Young, Ed Twining, and Mark Sumption are often seen on the flights. They take their secretaries, Roxann Wesley, Ginni Sorah, Tam Murray, Darlene Given, Sheila Cot- trell, and Linda Heatwole, along in case of last minute dictation. The ship loads on Moon Base I where Roger Clawson has his Super Service. With Dan Scyoc, Donnie Stallard, and Bill Scyoc as attendants, he has made a fortune. Cindi Friend is his bookkeeper. Bev Himes has painted a sign for the moon's newest nightclub owned by Randy Leiby. He has hired Lani Bradstock, Sarah Ewell, Janet Napier, and Dawn Miller as hostesses. Dar- win Sharp, along with his smiling side-kick, Mike Sikora, has been hired as a comedian. Linda Mayo is the minister of the first church on the moon and has assembled a small choir of Lou Ann Klier, Karen Ogle, Marcy Strubbe, and Francis Cloyd. With women on the moon, it was not long until Paula Coffin had opened a beauty shop and hired operators Bev Eaton, Kathy Davis, and Linda Brattoli. Some of the customers to be seen in their shop are Kathy Owsley, Donna Montoney, and Beth Preston. To locate the points of interest on the moon, Charles Nutter set up a travel bureau, and with guides Patty Burke, Judy Haynes, Andrea Hinkle, and Diana Herald he has captured the tourist trade. The moon dust, once thought worthless, is being farmed by the 38 Murray brothers, Fred Pitts, Neil Breyley, Mark J ones, Gary Broud, and Ray Bucholz. Dean Baker and Mar- tha Parsons are Moon County agents. Upon returning to the ship, one would pass by Ed Schoville's General Store, Glen Wacker's computer dating service, Mindy Pratt and Dinah Ward's delicatessen, Joan Weber's plumbing shop, and Rita Waite and Nancy Weitzel's furniture store. Technicians Bruce Cooley, Carl Turner, Randy Roby, and Jim Sikora ready the rocket for the return trip to earth. Our class has gone far both here on earth and on the moon, said Bob. l've always felt that they Would. I'm just sorry I never get back to Wellington. Well, listen! I'm on my Way back to my hay farm now-so why not join me? Craig asked. Great! replied Bob. Then hurry, because the next plane for Wellington Exempted Village Airport leaves in 19 minutes and 73 seconds! -Craig Norton w E 6 A, NERLRUGTOM Ex!-. 9043 A ' ' ' s ' x ' 1 . This record does not tell the entire story for this year's team. Aside from one game, the Dukes were right in the thick of things right up to the final gun. Highlights included the thrilling, last ditch, come-from-behind effort against Edison for a 14-14 tie, the 18-8 victory over a very large Brookside team, and the 8-6 heartbreaking loss against previously un- defeated Amherst. The Dukes worke and fought hard throughout the season. They cer ainly deserve an E for effort. Once again the Junior Varsity team of Wellington has come up with a successful season. Although most of the time out-sized, they were never out-played. Even in their two losing games, they were never out- played. iust out-scored. Fifteen games were decided by ten or fewer points. One game was decided in overtime and one after the time had expired. Unfortunately, nine of those close games were lost. Even so, there were many enjoyable moments. We defeated Oberlin at home by two points when Carl Jones made two free throws with no time left on the clock. We also came from behind to defeat Midview by three points as Bruce Whitney scored eighteen points in the last half. h Our biggest problem was playing away from home. Our rainy, but success- ful, marching season included one week at band camp at the Ponderosa Pines, performances at the Ohio State Fair competition and the Lexington and Fair- view festivals, several parades, and five different half-time shows with approximately 30 different numbers to be memorized. The featured twirlers were Debbie Sheffield and Teresa Warrens. Concert season began with many students chang- ing from a marching to a concert band instrument. This year's season included an exchange concert with Ontario High School, participation in the Lakeland Conference Festival, several home concerts, and Dis- 104 trict IV Band Contest in which our band received a Superior CD rating. Selected members of our band also participated in the pit orchestra for the production of The Music Man. The following awards were presented at the band banquet: Marcy Strubbe, John Philip Sousa Award, Holly Kimmich, Most Inspirational Female, John Wil- liams, Most Inspirational Male: and Kathy Smith, Best Marcher.
