Joseph C. Spang Director of Guidance Alfred E. Mazukina Counselor Joyce J. Freitag Counselor During its three eventful years at Wellesley High School, the Class of 1963 has had the support and aid of a warm, friendly, and efficient Guidance Department. Confronted with bewildering masses of sched¬ ules and activities, we found our advisers’ offices were welcome refuges where, in a relaxed atmosphere, we carefully could plan our active high school life. Under the expert advice of Mr. Spang, Miss Craig, Mr. Mazukina, and Miss Freitag, we found that select¬ ing the right college or occupation from the confusing, myriad op¬ portunities was much easier than we had expected. SAT’s and Achievements also proved to be less of a trial. During such senior crises as the filling out of application forms, the requesting of recom¬ mendations, the planning of interviews with representatives, and even the waiting for crucial white envelopes to arrive, we were greatly indebted to the vast knowledge, skill, patience, and devotion of the Guidance Department. To help so many floundering seniors to find their way in a competitive world is truly a difficult and chal¬ lenging task. As members of the Class of 1963 follow the paths laid out for them in their high school years, they will always retain gratitude for the wise counseling that they received from the Guid¬ ance Department of Wellesley High School. The administrators of any large school system have the exceedingly difficult task of providing a challenging educational environment, a faculty of high caliber, ex¬ cellent facilities, and superior equipment. From the time that we entered first grade to the moment that we received our diplomas, our class has reaped the benefits of the sound policies and capable organization of the School Board and our Superintendent, Mr. Chaffee. Throughout our three important years at the high school, Mr. Graves’ understanding, wisdom, and devo¬ tion to the student body have been an inspiration to all of us. His presence at rallies and athletic events has contributed greatly to an enthusiastic school spirit and high morale. Under the capable management of Mr. Lape and Mr. Kamitian, the high standards of Wellesley High School have been effectively maintained. The ex¬ cellent reputation of our school is largely the result of the efforts of these men. In the future, the Class of 1963 will be even more aware of the benefits of the sound educational system which the Administration has pro¬ vided. Our achievements in all walks of life will ulti¬ mately be the greatest sign of appreciation we can give. ADMINISTRATION John B. Chaffee Superintendent of Schools 6 James T. Lape Assistant Principal Bedros Kamitian Administrative Assistant Samuel M. Graves Principal
