Since its early days this town has willingly supported its schools and has, each year, contributed toward improvements which make our schools outstanding. Indeed, the merits of the Wellesley schools have received commendation from educators in many parts of the country. During our years here we have profited from the interest the town has taken in the welfare of its future citizenry. We have, of course, learned much in the classroom. However, we have learned also by observing the townspeople of this com¬ munity. In our books we have found the theory; in our fellow townsmen we have observed democratic attitudes in action. As we become adults in this community or in other communities, we shall strive to exemplify those principles upon which our school and town are based. In the years to come may you, the Class of 1954, look back on the pages of this yearbook and recall what you then will think of as ' Those good old days We hope they have been days that prepared you well for your journey through life. Your parents, teachers, and friends sincerely trust that you have gained a firm belief in yourself, a sound knowledge of all that is right, and a strong determination to succeed in whatever you may undertake. The founda¬ tion has been laid. What is now built on it is up to you. God Bless You All! Samuel M. Graves KATHERINE BRONSON Assistant Principal Dean of Girls JOSEPH C. MUSIC 95 FOOTBALL DANCE The climax of our successful football season was the Football Dance, high¬ lighted by Freddy Pierce and his orches¬ tra. The team and Coaches Certuse and Kerivan were on hand full of the spirit and enthusiasm that they displayed on the football held. A Western touch was introduced by a Virginia Reel, headed by the enthusiastic Seniors. The best in refreshments, music and decorations made this an outstanding dance. WELLESLEY AN What were the problems of the Wel- lesleyan staff? First, the staff looks over other yearbooks to get an idea of what should be done. Then Ginny and Joan have their problems getting money to pay for the publishing of the book. Next, Sylvia, Perry, and Dianne work with Miss Slattery and Miss Palmer on the lay-out of the book. Dick and Sylvia draw and plan the pages; Peggy and Dianne tag pictures, label the dummy, and even do some drawing. Then the staff writes copy for the candids. When the galley proofs come back, Peggy and Dianne check each item. All this and more goes into a book which we hope will recall all our pleasant years at Wel¬ lesley High School.
