HOCKEY front Row: Johnston, Smart, Mason, Monaghan, Slyc. Back Row: Coach Hines, Elsemiller, Woods, Coe, Lindholm, Heaney, Larson, Prime vara, Montvillc. Well, another season is over but the Wellesley High Sextet came very near to capturing the Bay State Title this year. The first game was a low scoring affair with Wellesley victorious 2-0 over Need¬ ham. The team was very much pleased to overpower their arch rival in the first game. The next game with Framingham turned out in a 2-2 deadlock. Our third contest with B. C. High was a heart breaker, with B. C. High coming out on the long end of a 4-3 score. The main trouble of this game was the Wellesley penalties. The game with Walpole was another tough game to lose by such a small margin as 2-1. After losing two in a row, Coach Bud” Hines’ squad came back fighting with a 4-2 win over Nor¬ wood, o nly to be set down again by Waltham 2-1. The last game of the regular season ended in a decisive victory for Wellesley over Watertown, 6-0. During the play off, the team caught fire as they set down in order, B. C. High 3-2, Waltham 5-2 and Walpole 1-0. These three teams are the squads who previously had beaten Welles¬ ley during the regular season. This was a very successful season and there arc many letter men returning next year. Mr. Hines and the team are to be congratulated on the finest season since 1946, when Wellesley took the championship. 22
