FOREWORD The editor doing his usual job. At 8:00 o'clock each morning, another day is begun at Weleetka High School. Her corridors echo with chatter about homecoming, the junior-senior banquet, the biology test, or Saturday night’s date. To a few it is just a school,” but to the majority of students it is the place where they learned together, shared together, and had fun together. A year at Weleetka High is a composite of activities. The annual staff tries to preserve these activities and memories for you in one small book each year. We are happy to present this year’s book, the 1969 ‘‘Outlaw.’’ The Annual Staff Preparing the annual is a lot of work. First, you put up posters for the sales campaign. Then, you sell all the annuals you can, so that you will know how many to get ready. After that comes all of the long hours of picture taking, cutting, pasting, drawing, recutting, repasting, and redrawing that are not pictured here. Also, ads must be sold to help finance the book. Then, comes the glorious day of as- sembly, when the staff gets to present the annual to the school. The staff is always very happy and proud. No one but they know what an achievement it is. DEDICATION There is someone who is seldom credited with our accomplishments; some- one who taught us before we entered school. They gave us love, understanding and a guiding hand when we were children. Yet they were wise enough to let us grow to independence by making decisions for ourselves as we grew older. Thus, we also grasped the heartrending meaning of failure and the glorious meaning of success. When we failed they were always there to pat us on the back and help us get on the right road through life again. Those of us who are ready for graduation know that they will be the first to praise us for this accomplishment that they helped us achieve. We would like to say thanks for everything by dedicating this 1969 Outlaw to you, MOM and DAD. The Annual Staff IVAN GORDON President D. A. Briggs Fred Shurley Homer Griffin J. L. Spence BOB CARROLL - Treasurer 1 congratulate you of the yearbook staff and the class of '69 on our twenty-third annual! Your example in- spires anew in us the hope that all peoples must have for their country’s future well being. We have learned much together and will continue to formulate philosophies which will guide our destinies throughout the years. If All are created equal” then we must deduce that what happens after our creation makes the real dif- ference! Our actions, what we do to others, what we do with ourselves is largely an individual matter and our own responsibility. We must see each individual as being responsible for his own deeds. Democracy demands freedom of action. It also demands responsibility for action. Without one we cannot have the other. We cannot shift the burden of responsibility for our deeds to the back of anonymous society! There is a happening” taking place continuously within each of us. How we respond, the decisions we make, the opportunities we grasp, will ultimately earn for each of us the stamp of approval or rejection as a worthy citizen. SUPERINTENDENT MR.
