Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1967 volume:

Time Waits For No Man 1967 O UTLA W FOREWORD These are the young years, the fruitful years when time means only the day after tomorrow. These are the years of wistful-eyed beings with tender dreams, but youth is brutal as well as tender, and youth is reality as well as a dream. f A Flower blooms and fades and blows away - and blooms again, according to the season; and in like manner youth exists from spring to spring, for to everything there is a time. There is a time to reminisce over pressed corsages and football programs and shed a tear for a lost love. Each page in this book will stir up some memory of the times that are past. • ) is ns Your annual staff. r-yisyi' 2 Contents Dedication Board Of Education Administration Staff Seniors Juniors Sophomores Freshmen Jr. High Elementary Favorites Organizations Athletics Candids Annual Staff Advertising 3 Dedication Because you have worked for and with us, becauseyou have given gen- erously of your time and wisdom--we dedicate the 1967 Outlaw to you, Mr. Crawley, our friend and teacher. Whenever there is a film to be shown, a skit to be given, or a concession stand to be run, you are there. You are always cheer- ful and willing to help. We are grateful to you. 5 J.T. SPENCE President HOMER GRIFFIN IVAN GORDON sr- | OR ( ilr Treasure: tBBKBf VELMA ELLARD Secretary FRED SHURLEY D.A. BRIGGS Board Education b The privilege of serving as your school leader during this school year has been deeply appreciated. The chal- lenge has been tremendous! To the Senior, nearing graduation. I would say that you are about to join with one of the greatest forces for change in all of nature—The Mature, Adult Human Mind. The changes wrought by mankind might keep some of our founding fathers from recognizing this land of ours-- (if they should return) - Changes brought about by forces in no way associated with man would probably be negligible. We, then, will be responsible for some change here. Let us hope that someone will be a little better, in one way or another, because of you and me, and thereby we may change this to a better place as we pass by. Lewis B. Kennedy Superintendent of Schools 7 HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL The purpose of schools is that teachers teach and students learn. Fortunately we have superior teachers in all areas. The accomplishments of our students is proof that they learn well. My hope is that we continue this tradition. Will you do your part? DAVID PUCKETT High School Principal As early as 500 B.C., the Greeks realized that for democracy to be successful every citizen must be educated. The purpose of this education was a healthy mind and a healthy body. 24 centuries later we are trying to achieve the same end by the same means. Our success depends upon the realization of the future generation of the responsibilities which they will inherit. Your education should bring awareness of. and prepare you for this responsibility. The means have been provided; the end shall be determined by your efforts.
