64 OUTLAW Published by Student Representatives From the Classes of Weleetka High School TABLE OF CONTENTS FRESHMEN ATHLETICS DEDICATION NOBLE WALKER Mr. Walker, head custodian, is in his thirty-second year of service to the Weleetka School System. IN MEMORIAM RUFUS CANARD, very much loved by the students and faculty, came to Weleetka School as custodian and bus driver in 1942. Shortly, he was called to active duty during World War II. In 1945, he returned to his position and served faithfully until Jan. 6, 1963, at which time he passed away suddenly with a heart attack. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. To four fellows whom we call up- on many times during school hours and after school hours, and who do what we ask willingly, we dedicate this 1964 Edition of the OUTLAW” ... to our custodians! KENNETH WADE Kenneth, second in years of service, came to work in the Weleetka School system in 1945. DELBERT BURBIN Delbert came in the fall of 1954 LLOYD MILUM Lloyd came in January, 1963 AROUND THE CAMPUS AGRICULTURE BUILDING CAFETERIA AND SHOP BUILDING HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AUDITORIUM ? 1 V % 111 kl a r ♦ f % iit i ! i m l(t N'fili m «Lilii f Lii V' k 1 ilP 4 It Ik (Q “: « ' i; k‘| i wll J J 1 4 V, I r 4 EWNMT1 TJi I i p£f I 4 •; liVll JV r5 V '. 1 vVoj-t f '• ;; Vf ITTlwTi V ‘ ( V ’ ] ' 1 1 ■ •• I t .• . Whether your memories will be of roses or ragweeds will depend upon you. You are in the springtime of your life - a time of joy and beauty, a time of important decisions, and a time of the greatest physical and intellectual growth. The decisions you make now and the things that you do now will determine what you will become. Yet, strangely enough, you are less able to make these decisions than you will be later in life. It is extremely important that you seek the advice and counsel of your parents and teachers, who are familiar with the route you are taking and its turns and pitfalls. My thanks go to those who have prepared this yearbook. This edition will em- bellish another corner in my garden of memories.” Sincerely, Joe Parsons, Supt. THE PRINCIPALS’ WORDS OF WISDOM The one bridge that is In a constant state of disre- pair is that which bridges the gulf of time between age and youth. Only three materials are available for bridging: Time - wait for the youth to age; wait for time to fill the gorge. Projection - Youth looks to the future and dreams of adulthood. Retrospection - adult looks to the days of youth. Time is certainly going to do its part and we are all dreamers - looking one way or the other, up or down life’s path. Perhaps we are doing something about this great gulf of time. Perhaps our dreams aren’t wasted. Sincerely, L. B. Kennedy said that obtaining an education is the first job anyone has. Whether you are successful at it will have a great deal to do with whether you are suc- cessful in later years. You are, at this point in your life, about to establish a pattern of life which will remain with you the rest of your living days. The road will be rough but the rewards great. My every good wish is yours in your pursuit of excellence. To all students, I would like to say I will help you in any way that I can: and to the Seniors I extend an invitation to come back and visit us after you have graduated.
