Joe nurse . . . thoughtful One day during the fall of 1956 marked the beginning' of avery important era in the lives of the present Senior Class of Weldon High School. We had finally reached our last plateauinour public school education-our entrance into high school. In spite of excellent counseling by our homeroom teachers we found it very difficult to know exactly where we were supposed to be at the right time. To make matters worse, there were only forty-two ofus, andwe felt very small indeed. We regarded the Seniors with much awe and ad- miration. How big they seemed! Why, they knew just about everything. Soon we settled down into the daily schedule of home work, classes and school activities. The Home Ec. girls made another great accomplishment when at last they finished all that bias and put the finishing touches on their first garments-cobblers' aprons. Changing classes was a new adventure for us, and we foimd that this made our days go by much faster than they had previously. We began taking part in clubs and athletics, having five on the football team and two on the girls' basketball team. When we reached the tenth grade we knew everything. How silly of us not to have noticed in the ninth grade how smart those sophomores were! And we were positive we could never have been as mixed up as those poor little fresh- men.
