FOREWORD The Class of ’56 is the first Senior Class in many years that I have not worked with as a sponsor. However, as your Acting Principal, 1 have been able to follow your programs closely and have come to know many of your members intimately. Yours is a good class. You have been leaders in scholarship and extra curricular activities, but I think your greatest asset has been your constant desire to help others. Your work in the Big Brother project, and the Pep Booster Committee, are examples of this fine spirit. I hope you keep this willingness to be of service to others with you the rest of your lives. I wish you all the best, and hope your scholastic and social experiences at the Weldon E. Howitt High School will help you gain a pleasant and useful life. Clinton Spahr, Principal. 2

I DEDICATION To you. Mister Spahr, the class of '56 proudly dedicates their Hi-Life. From the time when many of us were only one or two years of age, you have been serving our High School as an English teacher, athletic manager, tennis coach and for long periods of time as the advisor of both the Senior Class and Daler Skyline. These accomplishments alone give evidence that our choice was a worthy one. However, there are other reasons: We, who are the first class to graduate since you became principal, have given you enough troubles to cope with and enough problems to solve to last you many a year to come. Your understanding and assistance has helped us immensely, and we are exceedingly grateful to you for it. We wish you happiness and good health in the future, and hope that succeeding classes will continue to experience your helpfulness and understanding.
