Eintnrg Prof. A. C. Parsons, Dean of the Affiliated High Schools in his visit to Welch in the winter of 1914, commended very highly the progressive steps being taken by our High School. At the annual meeting in May of 1914, it was decided to extend the term of school to nine months in order to meet the demands of an accrediated high school. The fall term of 1914-15 opened with a full High School faculty, the first in the history of the Welch High School. C. C. Victory, Tahlequah, principalg Miss Mildred McClellan, Norman, Englishg Miss Bessie Schank, Independence, Kans., Commercial Department and Miss Lora Tallman, Tahlequah, Domestic Science and Latin. The term opened with much enthusiasm. The faculty and students were determined to make Welch an Accredited High School before the end of the year. Miss McClellan proved to be a very high minded, pleasing, and original teacher in the English Depart- ment. In January, she decided to resign and finish her course at the University of Oklahoma. She will graduate with the class of 1915. Her place was taken by Mrs. Lucie Haskell Hill. Mrs. Hill entered into her work with so much earnest enthusiasm that she has endeared herself in the hearts and minds of not only the High School, but the citizens of this school district. The reward came in the following letter: Norman, Okla., April 24, 1915. J. A. Dobkins, Sec. Board of Education, Welch, Oklahoma. My dear Mr. Dobkins: The Committee on Affiliation at the University has placed Welch on the fully accredited list, with the following units: Qlnntinurh English .......... Units Ancient History . . . Unit Modern History .. . Unit English History .. Unit American History Unit Latin ............... Units Domestic Science .... Units Algebra ............ Unit Geometry ....... Units Arithmetic . . . Unit Bookkeeping . . . Unit Agriculture ............... Unit Shop Work ................... A Unit Shorthand and Typewriting ..... 1 Unit This is a most excellent showing for a school in a city the size of Welch. Sincerely Yours, A. C. PARSONS, High School Inspector. The reading of this letter on Monday, April 26th, brought the most enthusiastic day in the history of the Welch Schools. This brought the school up to the highest standing. The Welch High School now offers as wide a range of courses and as Fine an opportunity for general High School education as any High School in northeastern Oklahoma. To say that we are PROUD that we are members of the class of 1915, and that we are graduates of the Welch High School, puts the question very, very mildly. THREE CHEERS FOR THE WELCH HIGH SCHOOL.
