Their record alone is no indication of the brand of ball played by the Wolverines. Many coaches in the Snake River Valley had much praise and respect for the boys from Weiser. As the Vale coach commented after the game, Weiser was the toughest ball club we played all year. Although the Weiser Eleven lacked in experience, they made up for this by their strong determination. Some of the outstanding senior players for the Wolverines were Charles Shepherd, George Hoashi, Lynn Youngberg, Jim Bray, and others. Ron Terashima was chosen the outstanding player of 1958 by his fellow teammates. FIRST ROW: R. Martin, R. Mason, R. Williams, G. Sayler, G. Hoashi, R. Terashima, D. Walters, J. Walker, L. But in spite of the height disadvantage and lack of experience, the team was eager to start the season and always provided a tough game for all opponents. Although the Wolverines won only two gamesg Parma and Payette, the team was always full of pep, spirit, determination, and co-operation. The two senior players, Lynn Youngberg and Marc Anderson, finished their last season of basketball for Weiser with exceptionally good records. Marc Anderson was chosen captain by his teammates. The tearn's top scorer was Roger Johnson, who was in the top ten scorers of the S.R.V. conference. Lawrence Ott, Jim Haun, Bill Wagnon, Allen Widener, Ronald Bowers, Lester Eisenbarth, and Gene Laird made up the rest of the team and' added considerable strength. They will be the nucleus for next year's team. This year's team was one that showed improvement as the days progressed. The team was composed of fifteen freshmen and five sophomores, all of which had little experience in the art of basketball. But because of their eagerness to learn and desire to play, the team was able to provide a tough'game for all opponents.
