' b Education has always been a fundamental element in a democracy. ln our world today, where we have made more technological and scien- tific advances in the past 50 years than had been made in the preceeding 500 years, education assumes an even more important role. In a highly mechanized and scientific world our youth must be better educated in order to take their place in their chosen field of vocation. With a shorten- ing of the working day and the working week, it will become increasing- ly important for us to receive training in avocations and the proper use of our leisure time. The intelligent youth of today then will select his courses so as to not only train himself for a specific field, but also broaden his general background. 1 LLOYD J. EASON Superintendent
