lltls News N TllE l AI.l. of 1937 a group of students of the XVeiser High School con- vened and organized a Journalism club with Mr. VY. C. Cherrington as their faculty adviser. The club, which consists of about 25 members, meets every week for the purpose of publishing the school paper, WNY. H. S. Hi-Lites, every Friday during the school year. This publication has proven to be a great asset to the school and the student body has taken a great interest. They have joined the National Scholastic Publications Association from which they re- ceive helpful criticisms that tend to better the paper. Cherrington The 'lournalism Club leads anything but a dreary and tiring life: many social activities are held during the year for the entertainment and amusement of the members. The -lournalism Club of 1937-1938 held many parties-skat- ing and hiking, and banquets. The emblem chosen by the members to signify their being in the hlournal- ism Club is a small bronze quill and ink-well. lt is our sincerest wish and deepest hope that this club of 1937-1938 will firmly establish a Journalism Club in XYeiser High School for many years to come. 3 Spring Athletics OR the fourth year the XYeiser High track men retained the Snake River Yalley Conference cup. but only by a narrow margin. The score ended with Xl'eiser 59 and Payette 55. Payette was a little more successful in the Sub-District meet, coming out victorious. In the Inter-Class meet, the juniors came out victorious. Much new talent and aluility was brought out in this meet. Those going to the lnter-District meet at flooding were llernard Hansen and Marvin Odell. llernard classified for the State meet at lloise, and came out first. Several records were broken, including the mile flYhite, Payettel, the javelin throw lXYishart, lleiserl, the high hurdles fOclell, XYeiserl, the 440- yard dash fkfcliinney, Payettel, and the 220-yard dash was tied hy Hansen of XYeiser. .-X new race, the Medley Relay. was run for the first time this year.
