That our victories were few was due to the fact that the Coach had a very light and inexperienced team to take the field against our much stronger and heavier worthy opponents. Twenty players made their letters-Bowling, Johnston, Aldred, Brown, Maddox, Raney, Harris, Hovde, Benson, Muir, Hansen, McCord, Daggett, Bridges, Smith, Glasby, XVatkins, Fochtman, lYhiting, and Shanafelt. Out of these there were nine Seniors, seven Juniors, two Sophomores, two Freshmen. At the annual football banquet, McCord turned over his rank as Captain to VVatkins, who was elected Captain for next year's team. Coach McClure also gave a gold football fob to Larry Muir, who was chosen at the best worker, cleanest sport, and hardest fighter. The score ended with Xl'eiser 59 and Payette 55. Payette was a little more successful in the Sub-District meet, coming out victorious. In the Inter-Class meet, the juniors came out victorious. Much new talent and aluility was brought out in this meet. Those going to the lnter-District meet at flooding were llernard Hansen and Marvin Odell. llernard classified for the State meet at lloise, and came out first. The club, which consists of about 25 members, meets every week for the purpose of publishing the school paper, WNY. H. S. Hi-Lites, every Friday during the school year. This publication has proven to be a great asset to the school and the student body has taken a great interest. They have joined the National Scholastic Publications Association from which they re- ceive helpful criticisms that tend to better the paper. H. S. music de- partment. After the usual beginning agonies, the vocal groups settled down to do real work and practice. The Glee Clubs were divided into boys' and girls' groups and one group of advanced students in the Mixed Chorus. All of these groups took an active part in the operetta The llelle of Bagdadf' a three-act comedy, which was a complete success through the labors of Mr. Potter and, of course, the cast of 100. The department has also furnished countless solos and small musical groups for such organizations as the Lions and Kiwanis. Vl'ith the interest which has been manifest this year we are quite sure that Olll' department will be even more active next year.
