Playing in the Crawford County Grade School Basketball League for the first time, the Grade Regulars and Midgets ended the season's play with records of 7-10 and 9-9 respectively. The Midgets placed third in the strong Cherokee Invitational Tournament by defeating Minden in the first round, losing to Arms in the semi-finals, and de- feating Cherokee in the consolation game. The Midgets also glued a tie for fourth with Arcadia in leaiue play. Dale Simonin and Buck White carried the scoring burden for the Midgets, while Wayne Kennedy's strong defensive play and aggressive rebounding proved very valuable. Don Golledge, Bobby Martin, and Pee Wee' Bennett rounded out the Midg-get's first six. Substitutes were: Francis Sullivan, Fritz Penrod. Jinmie Wilson, Phillip 0'Ma1ley, and Fred Martin. ln the neaulsr division, a broken arm suffered by Johnie Thompson early in the season was a blow to the team's chances. The transfer of Bob Neely to Topeka later on was also a touch break. However the boys always played hard and gave a good ac- count of themselves. Regular players, in addition to Thompson and Neely, who saw most of the action were: Carl Martin, Dale Simonin, David Short, Neal Scott, and Fred Fisher. Others on the squad were Dennis Sullivan and Bill Ohmsieder.
