CLASS PROPHECY Jan, 7, 1945 Weir, Kansas Dear Mrs. Shrader: You know, New Year's Eve I was playing our radio telivis- ion set, and what do you think? I saw and heard every one of our old acquaintances, the senior class of 19451 So I thought I would write and tell you of them. First there was the commercial, vividly acted and read by Mary Louise Bernardi. She was such a good saleslady, that I went right out and bought a bottle of nGurgle-Gurgle-Goon baby powder, her rivals product. Then there was the music of 'J. D. and his Jumpin' Jive,n known by us as our old friend, John Dea Hartman. Now the Mas- ter of Ceremonies took over, The Little Abner of the Airlanes, Jack Cote. Oh yes, he still has the same distorted sense of humor he had in school. Now this was a quiz program, something like the old UDoub- le or Nothing' program we listened to way back then. They ask- ed each contestant his occupation,so I got a pretty good chance to get the facts on what our old classmates were doing. The first one was John Kilger Eugene Donohoe, who was a pilot of a Bl9. Next was Com ander and Mrs. Thomas R. Coles. Tommy may be Com ander in Chief of the U.S. Navy, but he missed his ques- tion. Mrs. Coles, whom I recognized as the former Joyce Vine- yard gave the correct answer to a question about nHow to hold your husband.n Then there was Melvin Vineyard, who as his occupation gave: ndemonstrating tractors.n I thought perhaps he got his start by demonstrating one to Grace Harding. Now we were treated to a delightful intermission with a song by Camille Pommedeteere, whom I recognized in a glance as Betty Simone. First after the song, which received prolonged applause, was the former Mary stark, now a housewife, and also, she added, the mother of 12 healthy children. Then there was Thadene Blair who is a private secretary. When asked about her boss it appeared that it was Victor Ma- ture! Next was Sergeant Darrel Mishler, of the U. S. Marines. He was followed by Robert Hubbard, a hard working husband. In the background appeared Carol Turpin, keeping a watchful eye on nHump.' '

To Clarence Scott, Darrel Mishler wills his A-l reclassi- fication card, To Wilma Dugger, Doloris McClean leaves all her ex-infat- uation for a certain post-graduate. To future W.H.S. nwolvesn, Glen Duncan and Charlie Ross leave the extra accessories on their V-8's. To the future shorthand students, Virgil Sullivan and Roy Scott will their stenographic ability. To James Simone, Th mas Coles wills his blonde hair and ability to grow a beard. To Tud Johnsen, Vernon uMan Mountainn Curtis leaves his superman physique. Bill and Dale Mason leave rules and suggestions to the futursnnwolvesn of Weir Hi on the subject,'How to Win a Lady's Heart 0 To Clarence Scott, Bob Bliss wills his talkativeness. Donna Larson wills to the girls of Weir Hi, the ability to capture men's hearts. To Bill Johnson, Kansas Christian wills his broom and NQY. A. position as janitor. To Bill Alex Young, Andrew Anderson wills his heighth and broad shoulders. To Mary Washington, Nora Harris leaves her daily stick of gum and the question 'Why?u To Norma Young, Clarence Ticeson wills his ability to uTickle the Ivories.' To our teachers who have helped us through high school we will all you future success. To the seniors of next year, we bequeath any notes, pen- cils, or chewing gum found anywhere in the building. Next there was quite a celebrity, Danny Schuberger, coach of the Weir,Kansas basketball team, which has won four straight state tournaments. As his companion there was Gloria Kelso, Dean of Women of K.S.T.C. And who do you think was next? It was Kathryn Kelso, edi- tor of nAdvice to the Lovelornn column in the New York Daily Mirror! Next GD the list was Mrs. Henry McLean-Brown, wife of a prosperous farmer. Then there was Charles Ross, part owner of nRoss, Ross, and Ross Modern Laundry.n We were then entertained by Roy Scott and Virgil Sullivan, two well known cowboy romeos, stars from Warner Brothers. I was surprised to see Andrew Anderson, who was introduced as the leading expert on first-aid in this nation. With him was his secretary, Nora Harris. As always Andrew was slow but S'l1I'So Now a big burley man strode upon the stage. He was intro- duced as Vernon Curtis, 'The Worldfs Most Perfectly Developed Man.' My, has he changed! With him was the leading society de- butante, Lorene Kruse-Rockerfeller. Then there was Clarence Ticeson and Kansas Christian own- ers and operators of the leading car wrecking shop in New York. Immediately after, by way of contrast, came the famous Irma Mae Fudge, recently chosen the nPlatinum Blonde Queen of the Air- lanes.' Then there was Franklin McClure, who adds with a touch of Texas in his talk,'I'm owner and head cowpuncher of a l0,000 acre ranch.' e Next- was at career woman, Mrs. Albert Cherne, dwhom you will remember as Lillys Wisby. After her came Bill and Dale Mason, who reluctantly admitted they were teaching a night course in 'How to tell if a man is part wolf.n Next was Bob Bliss, who is still a bachelor, but his lit- tle address book is still filled with girls names. Then there was Glen Duncan. He has worked himself to the head of the Parsons Defense Plant, which is engaged in manufac- turing dud bombs. Last, and least was Frank Kukovich, who claimed to be the world's largest midget. Well, that was all our classmates, I expect you're pretty tired reading my gossip so I'll sign off.
