He lived his life in Weimar and attend- ed kindergarten at the elementary school. On October 22, 1983, at age five, he met with a tragic accident. Jess lived life to its fullest. Everyday of his short life was busy. Walking was not part of his daily routine but running was. His sister Jill, says, He was a fast kid because he could always get to Granny's first. The little redheaded kid that touched so many lives will always be missed and remembered by his family and friends. Even though his life was short, it was very meaningful. 2 We never lose the ones we love - For even though they're gone Within the hearts of those who care Their memory lingers on. At the completion of another school year, I congratulate the annual staff on the pictorial record of the achievements of our school. As we reminisce through these pages, our memories are assimilating a review of the past and a projection of the future. This year's book represents a never ending cycle of the in- fluence of the Weimar Public Schools on the lives of those who pass through its portals. lt is my constant endeavor and prayer that each of us, both student and teacher alike, realize that we are not a part of this influence . . . we are this influence! This has been an exciting and sometimes trying, job. The old building has served us well, but the new facilities are needed for the faculty and staff to give our students the very best oppor- tunities to learn and prepare themselves for living in our modern world. Now that the new facilities are nearing completion, it is time for us to turn our attention to updating our policies to permit curriculum updating which has been mandated by the Texas Education Agency. Meyer The WHS Student Council is a unique organization on campus because it is representative of the total student body. lt is an organization composed ot members who have been elected by their fellow classmates to represent them in council meetings and in meetings with the administration. Throughout the year the Student Council takes part in community activities and projects. The School year 1983-84 will be remembered for its renewed efforts in Drug and Alcohol education. The Student Council along with local community organizations waged war against Alcohol and Drug Abuse. The council sponsored an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Poster Contest for the fifth graders of Weimar Elementary and St. Michaels. The Council sponsored an assembly for High School students on Alcohol and Drugs. A door to door campaign raised money to pur- chase pamphlets to distribute at our town's an- nual celebration, The Gedenke. Homecoming October 21, 1983 ie ,.1. f Homecoming was a huge success this year for Weimar H was elected Homecoming Oueen and the Wildcat football team won'aT1'LTrTf'cEettable 34-31 game against the Lexington Eagles. We shall forever be indebted to Carlos White who made the winning touchdown in the closing moments ot the game. On Saturday, the Weimar exes gathered for a brunch and tour of the old and new buildings, and a dance in the evening.
