ENGLISH To the Class Of 1989! The English Department of Weequahic sincerely wishes each of you the best in possible choices that you make for the future. We hope that you carry with you as many of the concepts in humanities and grammatical science that we attempted to impart. If you traveled with us during the course of your four year voyage, you discovered many worlds of different characters, characters’ motives, adventures and settings which took to worlds outside of your immediate environ- ment and yourselves. Hopefully, you landed with a new you - a person who matured and developed in part be- cause of your greatly enhanced reading and writing skills. However, do not stop traveling! Keep going and while you do, continue to taste, to smell, to feel the great- ness of the world that awaits you. Take careful risks and experience the better values of life. Continue to read and to learn - despite | your liveli- hood - whether you go on to higher education or the job market. Your English teachers wanted to show you what you needed in your life skills preparation for the tw enty- first century. June Маа Chaixpeion

FINE ARTS T Ч = Ош Brown Art, Music and Foreign Language courses are the most historic, creative, and exciting. The force behind these courses are self-discipline, practice, and performance. Here at WHS we know talented kids are not found only on TV shows. Our talented Art students enter and win various poster contest and art exhibits which gives them great exposure. Our Mixed Choir performs at Newark's International Airport as well as City and State Festivals. The Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble had an opportunity to play at Symphony Hall, Atlantic City, The Meadowlands and performed with Nathlie Coles and W ynton Marsalis. The Spanish Language classes enrich our students cultural knowledge and language competency. A few students will be traveling to Mexico this spring and will gain that opportunity to speak with different Spanish speaking people from all parts of the world. ІҢ William Phipps, Chainpouon
