He teas a scholar, and a ripe and good one; Exceeding wise, fair-spoken, and persuading Shakkspkari: Max J• II krzlMkr| l rin«‘i|»:il s Message A Message to the Class of January 1951: If you were asked which sort of world you’d rather live in—one where everything goes on in the same way forever, or one where almost anything can happen at any time and nothing is ever certain, you’d probably decide in favor of the latter. Fortunately or unfortunately, you have no choice. Never was the world so unsure, so dangerous, so confused. We have automobiles, TV sets, and other contraptions, but we can expect Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for jHiin as Matthew Arnold phrased it. If you like excitement, the chance to grow up fast, and the responsibility for settling mankind’s future, you’ll get all these in the next few years—and I hope and expect you won’t mind. Good luck to you all! MAX J. 1IERZBERG

II a rol«l La Pen na II e 1 i v a t i o n When the subject was presented—to whom shall our yearbook be dedicated?—the response was unanimous. We didn’t have to search for a person; we knew whom we wanted. A yearbook is the result of four years of sincere friendship; a book of friends. With his gentleness and soothing determination, our grade adviser has proved to l e our very best friend. He first became associated with us when we were sophomores; and he has been a source of inspiration ever since. lie has always been unselfishly willing to give of his valuable time to any member of the class who was in need of advice. He has been tactful and kind and we are all thankful that we were fortunate enough to have such a man direct us and solve our many problems. It is our honor and privilege to dedicate our Legend to you—Mr. Harold LaPenna.
