Girls' Basket Ball Season of '24 As the girls' basket ball season closes, we look back upon a season full of pep and a real success for the year. We are proud of our girls' team for the real good playing they did and the fine, snappy spirit they kept all through the season. We owe much to our coach, Mr. Witte, who showged us how to play real basket ball and kept our pep up to the highest poin . During the season we played sixteen games and lost four of them out of the happy sixteen. Our girls certainly deserve a great deal of credit for winning twelve games, which is the largest number won by a W. W. H. S. team of girls. The line-up was as follows: Olga Elgaard, '24, centerg Kathryn El- lis, '24, guard, Lillian Cappen, '24, forward, Freda Baker, '24, second center, Helen Lane '25, second sub. center, Gladys Philpot '26, sub. cen- ter, Kathryn Molden '26, forwardg Martha Hammer '27, guaidg Rula Lane, sub. guard, Magda Ankerson '27, sub. forward. Skinny Elgaard, tall and quick, was a good center. Kack Ellis, short, but rough, was a mighty fine guard. Lill Cappen, had a fever of putting the ball in the basket on time. Freaky Baker, made a mighty fine second center, and put the ball in the basket many times. Hctten Lane, shows a good chance of being a real second center. Boots Philpot, because of her swiftness and fast movement, made good as a center. Katy Molden, won us many scores and has another year to show her ability to the poor graduates. Dutch Hammer, although a Freshman guard, put one cver some of her big forwards in the way of her guarding. Rula Lane was a fine guard and always full of pep. Magda Ankersen always played a good game, and shows signs of bc- ing an A-1 forward next year.
